Alexandra Gillett (Fiddle)
Alexandra comes from a musical family and has a background playing saxophone and guitar, but when she picked up the fiddle, she knew she had found the one. She began as a student at Long & McQuade and now teaches in the same place she herself learned. She loves to share traditional Canadian fiddle music with her students. Alexandra's rate is $23.00/half-hour private lesson.

Andrew Brideau (Guitar)
Andrew has played guitar for 40 years and has taught at Long & McQuade for over 25 years. His years of professional playing have given him a wealth of knowledge, which he continues to pass on to his long list of students. He makes sure his students have a great deal of input into their own lesson and tailors each student’s lesson with the individual in mind. Many of Andrew’s students have gone on to become teachers as well. Ranging from beginner to advanced, Andrew teaches many guitar styles such as acoustic fingerstyle, rock, jazz, and many advanced lead guitar techniques. His rate is $23 per half hour.

Andrew Haughton (Guitar, Ukulele)
Andrew has been a student of music all his life. He started studying guitar in 1993 and began to specialize in classical guitar in 1999 in preparation for McMaster University where he earned his Bachelor of Music Degree with honours. Andrew enjoys playing and teaching electric, acoustic, classical guitar and ukulele. His rate is $23.00/half-hour private lesson.

Andy Klaehn (Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet)
Andy Klaehn is a dynamic, multi-talented, professional musician, bandleader, and master teacher. He is a highly sought after alto, soprano, and tenor sax player, as well as a flute and clarinet player performing with various artists in a wide array of collaborations. Andy has performed for appreciative audiences at the Uptown Waterloo Jazz Festival, the Hillside Festival, the Guelph Jazz Festival, the Thursday at Noon Concert Series in Guelph, and at the legendary Rex Jazz and Blues Bar in Toronto. Andy is an active member of the Faculty of Music at the University of Guelph, as well as a woodwind teacher in local private studios. In addition to teaching, Andy also maintains a busy performance schedule in the live music scene. His rate for a half-hour private lesson is $23.00.

Bernice Lageer (Piano)
Bernice has studied piano for the majority of her life. She has obtained her Bachelor of Music with Honours degree from Wilfred Laurier University, her Bachelor of Education from the University of Western Ontario and is currently registered with the Ontario College of Teachers. Bernice has organized and performed in worship bands of all ages as well as performed as a soloist for many events. She has not only been teaching piano for 20+ years, but has also taught in Ontario Elementary Schools. Bernice’s teaching objectives are to ensure students succeed at their highest potential – both as a musician and as a person. Her private lesson rate is $23.00/half-hour.

Chris Dahmer (Piano, Accordion, Theory)
Chris has been balancing a music career of performance and teaching for more than 40 years. Starting at a young age, his piano studies included Royal Conservatory, alongside pop and jazz. He went on to study with numerous jazz piano instructors in Toronto, and graduated from the Humber College music program. He also studied accordion for 10 years. In teaching piano (and accordion) Chris maintains a focus on developing well rounded students, incorporating many musical styles, including improvisation. He is comfortable with all levels and all ages, and can assist students preparing for college or university music programs. Chris is also experienced in teaching music theory, as well as working with ensembles. Chris' private lesson rate is $23.00/half-hour.

Dave Poole (Guitar)
Dave Poole has been playing guitar for over 25 years. He studied music theory, history and the psychology of music at the University of Western Ontario, where he earned his bachelor's degree. Dave enjoys many styles of music, and has been teaching with Long & McQuade since 2004. His private lesson rate is $23.00/half-hour.

Dave Robertson (Guitar)
Dave Robertson has been teaching with Long & McQuade for over 10 years. He enjoys teaching guitar to students from beginner to advanced levels. He understands that all students are unique individuals and learn at different paces, so he is always careful to gear his lessons towards each student’s unique learning style. Dave believes in teaching all of his students theory, scales and chord structures to ensure a successful musical journey. Dave looks forward to teaching you and helping you to enjoy music just as much as he does. His rate is $23.00/half-hour private lesson.

Helen Leonhardt (Piano)
Helen has been teaching piano for over 15 years, within the school system and her own studio. Teaching multiple genres, she ensures that each student’s own interests and capabilities are achieved through enthusiasm, encouragement and motivation. Her ultimate goal is to share her love of music with as many people as she can and make music fun!

John Brown (Guitar)
John has been teaching with Long & McQuade for over 10 years. He understands that, when learning, those squeaks and bleeps that come from playing notes and chords take time to master. He thinks the most important role as a guitar teacher is to get a student to a level that they can learn on their own. Students need to learn how to play and start learning songs they want to motivate them to keep picking that instrument up. John loves all types of music and styles of playing. His playing style is blues, classic rock, new rock, folk, funk, R&B and jazz and his lesson rate is $23.00 per half-hour private lesson.

Mariette Stephenson (Guitar)
Mariette Stephenson holds a B.Mus., ARCT (Royal Conservatory of Music) and M. Mus from the University of Toronto in guitar performance. She is Music Director for the KW Guitar Orchestra and is a guitar lecturer for both University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University (Community Music). She teaches guitar to students of all ages and also offers theory/music history lessons (RCM). Her private lesson rate is $26.00/half-hour.

Sarah Dufton (Piano, Theory)
Sarah has been teaching piano and theory for over 25 years. She has her BMus (Honours) from the University of Western Ontario and has studied for 2 years under concert pianist Irmgard Baerg while in the Arts program (Music Major) at the University of Winnipeg. Sarah is a current member and past president of the Cambridge branch of ORMTA (Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association) which promotes a high standard of music instruction. Her students have won music scholarships and have placed in Festivals and received 1st class honours in RCM piano and theory exams. Sarah's goal is to help develop a life-long love of music and the arts in all her students. Her private lesson rate is $23.00/half-hour.

Sean Connolly (Guitar, Bass)
Sean is a well rounded musician having studied music at Humber College achieving a Bachelor of Arts in Music and gigging and playing with local acts. Sean believes music can be fun, while at the same time building discipline for young ones and honing mental skills for older students. Sean offers lessons to beginner, intermediate and advanced students of all ages. He offers a strong foundation of guitar techniques for future rock stars to achieve their individual goals and dreams. Sean's lesson rate is $23.00/half-hour private lesson.

Vic Freitas (Drums)
Vic has been playing drums since the age of 11 and has recorded and performed various styles of music. His studied at the Drummer’s Collective in New York and attended the Percussion Fest at Berkeley College in Boston. Vic has a passion for percussion and enjoys teaching students of all ages, styles, and abilities. He gears his lessons on an individual basis with strong emphasis on timing and structure. Vic teaches drums, bongos, congas, djembes and other percussion instruments, and his private lesson rate is $23.00/half-hour.

William Devonshire (Guitar/Uke/Piano)
William Devonshire has over 9 years of experience teaching guitar to students of all ages and levels in a variety of genres. He holds a Grade 8 Certificate in Guitar from the Royal Conservatory of Music and has experience preparing students for examinations and performances. William's teaching philosophy is to understand and inspire his students, to set goals that are tailored to their individual needs, and to guide them on a fun and engaging musical journey. His rate is $23.00/half-hour private lesson.
