Alex Doucet (Guitar, Bass guitar, Ukulele and Banjo)

Alex Doucet is a seasoned guitar, banjo, ukulele, and bass player with over 20 yearsí experience. He is well versed in many musical styles including blues, bluegrass, country, rock, pop, and jazz. Alex is a passionate and dedicated teacher who works with students of all ages and skill levels. He provides guidance on musical notation, simple chord shapes, and more advanced rhythms and leads. He is happy to help students learn and grow, no matter their musical background. Alexís rate for a half hour private lesson is $21.

Dianna Alteen - Flute, Piano, Beginner Woodwind music lessons in Fredericton

Dianna Alteen (Flute, Piano, Beginner Woodwind)

Dianna Alteen studied flute and piccolo under Dr. Michelle Cheramy, and graduated with her Bachelor of Music (Honours) from Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) in 2016. During her time at MUN, Dianna was a member of several ensembles, orchestras, and choirs, and helped plan and manage some of MUN Musicís outreach programs. Growing up in Corner Brook, Dianna studied piano and voice with Dr. Gary Graham. In 2017, she completed a post-graduate program in Arts Administration and Cultural Management at Humber College in Toronto. While there, she worked with Choral Canada as the Programs and Office Assistant. Back in Corner Brook, she worked as Gros Morne Summer Musicís Festival Manager, and as the main administrator for the Graham Academy. Dianna has a true love for music education. She taught instrumental and chorale music at Immaculate Heart of Mary School, as well as having a private studio consisting of flute, piano, and other wind students. She began teaching lessons virtually in 2016, and in 2019 moved her entire studio to virtual learning. After spending two years working full time in the arts as an administrator and music teacher, Dianna moved to Fredericton in 2019 to study at UNB in the dual JD/MBA program, and is very excited to be joining the Fredericton Arts community. Irene Wong-Montgomery - Piano music lessons in Fredericton

Irene Wong-Montgomery (Piano)

Irene Wong began piano at age 4, but was exposed to music right from birth. Her dad, a big music lover, always had classical music playing whenever he was home. Raised in Calgary, Alberta, Irene studied piano with Enid Gladwell and Dale Jackson and was a student at the prestigious Academy Program for Young Artists at Mount Royal University. She earned her ARCT (Performers) at aged 16 with a 95%, and received countless awards, including the Rose Bowl and Scholarship from the Calgary Kiwanis Music Festival (1997) and first prize at the Canadian Music Competitions (2002). Irene has a B.Mus. (Performance) from the University of Calgary under Professor Marilyn Engle, and a M.Mus. (Piano Performance) from the University of Toronto under Professor Marietta Orlov. She has also had lessons and masterclasses with some of the world's top pianists, including John Perry, Lee Kum-Sing, Stephane Lemelin, Anton Kuerti, Jon Kimura Parker, and Paul Badura-Skoda. She performed several concertos with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, the Calgary Civic Orchestra and the University of Calgary Orchestra, and participated and performed in music festivals in France and Italy. As a musician and teacher of over 25 years, Ireneís passion is to share the joy of musical expression with her students, and to challenge them to stretch their awareness of self, sound and creativity in all that they do. Janice Wilson has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Mount Allison University and a†Bachelors of Arts†in English from St. Thomas University. She returned to Fredericton after working in the music industry in Toronto for a decade. Janice teaches musical theatre, pop music and church music, as well as classical and has directed church and independent choirs for decades, worked extensively as an accompanist, †and as a Music Theory Instructor at UNB. She is also a composer who's produced several works in classical and pop genres and teaches song writing. Janiceís rate for a half hour private lesson is $24.

Kathrin Welte - Voice and Violin music lessons in Fredericton

Kathrin Welte holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Mount Allison University and a Masters of Music in Solo Vocal Performance from McGill University. Parallel to a successful performance career in the classical music field, she teaches private voice and violin lessons and is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience with young and old. Over the course of her 15 year career, Kathrin has learned that empathy, understanding and objective listening are key elements to meeting studentsí needs and learning styles. Her student-centered teaching approach draws on many techniques, teaching methods and a vast practical background in order to promote development in her students all while keeping the joy of music making forefront to their experience. Kathrin actively keeps up to date with new teaching methods, building on the foundation of the university courses she took in vocal pedagogy, choral conducting, diction and elementary pedagogy. She takes a specific interest in: the specialized approach of teaching young singers; preparing adolescents and young adults for higher education in the music field; as well as guiding avocational adults in expanding their musical skills and appreciation. Kathrin is a registered music teacher with the NBRMTA and teaches lessons in French and English. She looks forward to welcoming you in her studio and sharing the beautiful art of music together soon. Leah Thompson - Piano music lessons in Fredericton

Leah Thompson has been playing the piano for 20 years, and isnít ready to stop yet! She completed Grade 8 RCM. Leah continued to pursue her thirst for performing by participating in the LHHS Jazz Band and their musicals from 2006 to 2010. Through this she gained an appreciation for music genres such as jazz, blues, pop, pop-rock, classic rock and folk. After high school, Leah travelled to Germany where she learned about composition and song-writing, something she loves sharing with her students. In Fredericton, she started teaching in 2012, and has been enjoying and thriving as a teacher for 5 years! Leah has prepared students to take RCM exams and to play in festivals, and has also been a piano accompanist for both. Aside from playing, she also loves to dig into musical theory and has prepared students to take the RCM theory exams. Nathaniel Sergeant has played piano for over 16 years and has completed his Grade 10 Royal Conservatory exam. It was his appreciation for Japanese piano compositions that first sparked his interest in pursuing a BA in Linguistics at Carleton University in Ottawa, where he minored in Japanese. Since returning to his hometown of Fredericton in 2016, his focus has shifted back to the language of music through teaching piano, providing choral and instrumental accompaniment, participating in theatre productions, and offering solo entertainment for local events. Nathaniel firmly believes that music is a journey unique to every individual and in his lessons he encourages his students to express themselves through music by learning in a way that is creative and has special meaning to them. She has also worked with The Next Folding Theatre Company and is a member of the Fredericton Symphony Orchestra. Tim Lingley has been a guitar player for 21 years, and has a multitude of musical influences including rock, blues, jazz, pop and more. He completed Recording Arts Foundation year at the Center for Arts and Technology in 2005, and went on to study Electrical Engineering at UNBF. Throughout that time, he played as a lead guitarist performing around the Fredericton area. Tim has a solid music theory knowledge and taught privately for several years before originally joining the Long and McQuade Lesson Centre in 2009. In both cases, he taught students of all ages, from beginner to advanced intermediate. Timís instructional methodology focuses on forming focused practice as a habit, and diversification of styles. Music theory would be a focus, so learning new musical techniques can be implemented in songwriting. He is happy to teach acoustic or electric guitar as a focus.
