This amplifier is a great way to get the tones of a Plexi without breaking the bank. This is an absolute rock machine! Even in it’s greatness, there are still some downsides to it. It’s quite loud, even with the power on low, so if you want low volumes out of this, unless you have an attenuator, you’ll have to sacrifice power tube distortion. There’s also not much gain, even if you have the gain knob cranked and boost switch engaged, so if you want to play hard rock or metal with this, you’ll probably want a pedal to boost into high gain. I’d recommend this amp to a guitarist who needs higher stage volume for gigs, someone who needs to cut through an acoustic drum kit, or someone trying to get classic Marshall tones without spending a fortune. I would totally use this amp.

I've this head for a couple of weeks and already gigged with it twice. So far it's working great. You have more volume than you'll likely ever need. This amp at max gain with boost on will not give you much drive. With my les paul the most I get is acdc or blues type gain definitely not enough for hard rock or metal. The cleans are better than most Marshalls like silver jubilee for example but if you want that classic Marshall tone and crunch then this amp is great. It's also a great pedal platform. The only negative for me is it has no stand by switch.
