POG 2

Online

Back in 2005, Electro-Harmonix unveiled the original POG, a polyphonic octave generator that enabled guitarists to conjure everything from the surreal jangle of an 18-string guitar, to rich, thick walls of symphonic sound.

The POG2 will take you even higher. Use the new attack control to fade in lush, smooth swells. Tune in the new second sub-octave to reach deeper than ever before. The 2-pole resonant low-pass filter now includes two additional Q modes. Slide in the newly enhanced detune to further refine your sound.

The POG2 delivers unrivaled tonal variationsand now you can save your favorite settings, and recall them with a click. The POG2 just plain sounds better, thanks to an enhanced algorithm that delivers a more focused and in-the-pocket harmonic performance. And all this is now packed into our rugged and pedalboard-friendly diecast chassis.

jeeze this thing is expensive. And the worst part is that its worth the cost; nothing else can track chords like this thing. the attack function makes this pedal extremely versatile, and a better choice (for me) than the micropog.

The box works fine, but standard 1/4-inch instrument cables don't snap into the input and output jacks properly. The detent on the cable should be gripped by the jack to hold the cable where the connection is good. But on this box, you have to push the cables about 1/8 - 3/16 in PAST the last detent position in order to get a signal connection. As a consequence, there is nothing to stop the cable from sliding back out the 1/8 in if anything is jiggled, breaking the connection. It's a pain, not being able to trust the jacks. How in the world can a manufacturer mess up 1/4 inch jacks after all this time?

This pedal can do so much. It replaced my volume pedal for swells, has the best pitch shifting, can imitate an organ, a bass and add beautiful shimmering octaves beneath chord playing. Steep price point, but it pays off for hours of fun with this pedal. The 9 presets makes things alot easier too. The pedal only takes up two spaces on a pedalboard, much smaller than it looks.

This is all you need. The hog is interesting, but has too many bells and whistles. Pog2 has the essentials, just the usable octaves and volume swells too. Plus, you can save 8 settings. Small footprint and user friendly. Downside is that it costs too much. Luckily, I found mine used at L&M for $200. But after using it for a while, I'd buy it for the full price if I had to.
