If you're still looking for your sound, you'll find it with the Jackson RR1 Randy Rhoads Select Series Electric Guitar. The young master metal shredder never lived to see the mass production of this guitar, but he helped design and approved the prototype. Equipped with screamin' Seymour Duncan open humbuckers (an SH2 at the neck and TB4 at the bridge) and an original Floyd Rose Original double-locking tremolo, this guitar is designed specifically for the kind of sonic pyrotechnics its inimitable namesake made famous. Jackson's famous sharkfin mother-of-pearl inlays adorn a bound compound radius ebony fretboard mounted on a lightning-fast quartersawn maple neck that runs right through the sculpted alder body. Mother-of-pearl Jackson logo adds a touch of class to the bound headstock.

I ordered the string through version with high hopes on tone and feel. Compared to my Mick Thomson USA, this is not as solid. Where it is different woods and no graphite reinforcement I guess. But that can be subjective on whether you prefer a heftier, solid guitar or something a bit lighter. That said, this guitar is very light. Almost like an acoustic which is great for slinging. The neck is chunkier than I expected. Not baseball bat but more rounded. I'm in love with the look of the fretboard and creme binding. The pickups are good but not as good as I would have thought. I keep comparing everything to my 2018 Les Paul with burstbuckers 1 and 2 and I keep preferring the burstbuckers over other pickups. Again, that could be subjective and different in each guitar with different materials/electronics. This is my first V so adjusting to the feel was another thing. Access to upper frets is awesome but the lack of upper body is something I had to adjust to. It's very comfortable while standing and can be held easily in different positions but I like relaxing and sit while practicing a lot to, so not so good there unless you're really used to sitting with good posture and classical style. I do not like the knob configuration. Carefully trying to flick the pickups selector while being quick sucks for me where it is surrounded. I'd prefer one or two volume knobs and a blade out in the open.

I've owned many guitars over the years (over 40). And THIS exact Jackson was the one I always really wanted above all but it was always very pricey and I could never justify the price. I will hands down say the price is really worth it. It is quality at it's finest. USA Jackson are really worth the price. The abalone is pretty but the tone of the guitar is unreal. And it stays so well in tune with the Original Floyd Rose. A shredder's dream come true. Flawless! I love it so much, I'm buying a second one in white and selling off all my other guitars. Wish I would have spent the money years ago and avoided buying so many other guitars settling when I wanted this all along.
