All-new digital wind instrument with traditional sax fingering and flexible onboard sounds
In the studio and on stage, your trusty acoustic sax is always by your side. But if you work across a range of musical genres, imagine how useful it would be to own a single wind instrument that delivers every sound that's required. The Roland Aerophone AE-10 is a trailblazing digital wind instrument that fuses traditional sax fingering with the flexible onboard tones you need. Seasoned players will feel instantly at home with the familiar saxophone fingering system, responsive SuperNATURAL sounds, and a breath sensor that reacts like your favorite acoustic horn. The large sound selection faithfully recreates saxophone models from soprano to baritone, plus wind instruments like clarinet and trumpet, string instruments, and even synths. With built-in speakers, battery power capability, and DAW connectivity, the Roland Aerophone AE-10 is the versatile, play-anywhere choice that supports you in every musical scenario.

All the saxophone sounds you need in one instrument
Nothing beats the sound of your favorite acoustic sax, but sometimes its tone might not be quite right for the job at hand. Whatever scenario you're playing in, the Roland Aerophone AE-10 has the onboard digital sax sounds you need. Choose from alto, tenor, soprano, and baritone sax types that all respond just like their acoustic counterparts to your playing dynamics and articulation, thanks to Roland's advanced SuperNATURAL modeling technology. Alongside individual sounds, you can pull off a seamless performance with the Full Range feature, automatically switching between sax types by key range.

Jam with favorite tunes on your smartphone
Playing sessions are even more fun when you connect a smartphone or music player to jam along with favorite songs. Your device connects to the stereo mini-jack input on the Aerophone AE-10, and plays through the onboard monitor speakers or connected headphones.

Customize your Aerophone for maximum expression
The Aerophone Editor is a free iOS app for the Aerophone AE-10 that lets you adjust tones, set various playing parameters, and organize tone lists. You're able to deeply customize sounds and functions with parameters only available in the app, and easily create tone lists for different performance and practice situations. Via a convenient interface, you have access to four tone layers, various controller assignments, effects settings, and more. I've always wanted an electronic wind instrument that actually played and felt like an acoustic instrument. This is by far the closest to that idea that I've ever had the pleasure of playing. Having previously owned a predecessor electronic wind synth from another maker, to me every aspect of the Aerophone feels like a major innovation. From the physical design to the built-in sounds, I'm very impressed with the overall quality that Roland has made here. The instrument's performance right out of the box is very good... the ergonomics, movable buttons, fingerings, mouthpiece, altissimo recognition, on-board speaker, and weight are all very natural and comfortable. Although it ultimately feels different than an acoustic instrument (obviously), this is still an ideal tool to assist with practicing without being so complicated that you need to be a pro or incredibly computer savvy in order to play the instrument and make it sound good. In other words, you do not need a lot of additional gear to start playing right out of the box (you will need an inexpensive USB-B 2.0 cable to install the software update). As for professional players - I have no doubt that they will amaze people for years to come with the possibilities of the Aerophone. I, for one, am so happy with this instrument, and strongly feel that Roland has found the sweet spot in a technology that has not seen a major innovation in decades!
