No nonsense, Electromatic hollow-body guitars are the perfect real, pure and powerful Gretsch instruments. They're your next-step Gretsch - bold, dynamic and articulate, and crafted with essential Gretsch sound, style and playability.

Sleek yet aggressive, the G5422T has a thinner, fully hollow build with a true Filter'Tron[trade] voice that captures the resonant hollow-body sound with a more present and chiming voice. Like all Electromatic guitars, it delivers the fearless and electrifying authenticity that has set Gretsch apart as the quintessential rock 'n' roll guitars from the very beginning. It's the sound of honor itself - play proud.

Premium features include: Dual "Black Top" Filter'tron humbucking pickups, Versatile upgraded controls including master volume treble-bleed circuit, Oversized bound F holes and aged multi-plybody binding, Smaller late-'50s G6120 bound headstock, Graph Tech[reg] NuBone[trade] nut, Pearloid Neo-Classic "thumbnail" fingerboardinlays, Bigsby[reg] B60 vibrato tailpiece

Black model, VERY impressed, not a single issue with the build quality or finish or frets, played great out of the box, still has original strings, probably 10's; tuning has gotten a bit more stable over the last few weeks with moderate to lite bigsy use. INSTANT Neil Youngish overdrive tones and any feedback is both wonderful and controllable. No case or gig bag for this price is a let down however, particularly for being a full hollowbody. Wonder what a Compton Bridge might do to further the tone, but it sounds very good as is.

Don't be misled by the price on this Gretsch double cutaway. With the exception of an ebony fingerboard and a few cosmetic pearls, the G5422T plays as well as any $5000 White/Flack Falcon. The Black FilterTron pickups may not be as grizzled as a pair of special TV Jones, but they're supremely close to the Falcon's stock p/u's. Turn it up through any good amp, and you WILL hear the growl and that famous Gretsch only sound. The instrument plays exceptionally well especially after changing the strings to 11-50 flat wound Chromes. You won't be sorry owning or playing this guitar anywhere. Gretsch also moved the lame ElectroMatic insignia off the headstock to small letters on the pick guard. Good move!
