Overview
Generally considered to be the ideal microphone for vocals, solo instruments and any broadcast application, the classic ribbon microphone design boasts the most natural sounding audio capture available.

The active element of the Apex210 is a very thin corrugated aluminum ribbon mounted under low tension between the poles of a strong magnet. The asymmetrical figure-8 pickup pattern has an extended sweet spot on the rear face of the microphone allowing the recording to accurately reproduce the natural space and ambient reverberation of a good sounding live room with incredibly fast and accurate transient response and stunning realism. The Apex210 ribbon microphone is ideal for todays direct to digital recordings.

The low-tension 2-inch long, 2-micron thick aluminum ribbon design offers audio reproduction with smooth, natural extended low and high frequency response. The Apex210B comes in an all new black and smoked chrome finish, and is shipped with a custom designed aluminium carrying case.

A $200 ribbon microphone? Ribbon microphones typically cost thousands, so you may expect this one to be garbage, but it is actually built really solid. When recording vocals, it produces a warm tonality, yet it still needs no EQ to fit in a mix, even if the guitarist’s amp has a lot of midrange and less treble like a Marshall JTM45 or vintage Vox AC30. I’ve seen the Apex 210B perform well as a room mic for drums, however it also excels at recording vintage rock vocals, thanks to a maximum SPL of 160dB. The only downside of this microphone is that you can only use it with the built in XLR cable. This is a great microphone, and you should check it out.
