The GENELEC 8040B is a two way active monitoring loudspeaker designed to produce high SPL output, low coloration and broad bandwidth in a small enclosure size. It is suitable for a wide variety of tasks, such as near field monitoring, broadcast and TB control rooms, surround sound systems and home studios. Designed as an active loudspeaker, the 8040B contains drivers, power amplifiers, active crossover filters and protection circuitry. The Minimum Diffraction Enclosure and advanced Directivity Control Waveguide technologies provide excellent frequency balance even in difficult acoustic environments.

My first pair of monitors were ROKIT 5’s back in 2012ish. Then upgraded to HS8’s around 2017. I was happy with both monitors while I had them, for where I was at musically (at the time).
But eventually I evolved to wanting even more detail (2020). I highly recommend these if you’re serious about music production. The detail is what I needed now, but most importantly, they don’t fatigue my ears the way the Yamaha’s did, when I need to turn them up.
Again, these are for serious level production. You can craft a bass line or a kick with confidence on these without any added colourization. Also, the tilt function is so key for aiming these at your head.
Love these. I made the right choice. There’s a reason why David Guetta and Avicii use(d) these. Definitely recommend.
