I?ve had the original BD-2 for quite some time now. But I decided to go and grab a Waza version just to see for myself. (Kinda hard to tell over YouTube with all that compression that YouTube does to your audio file). In my honest opinion, the Waza is a bit crispier, clearer and more dynamic than the original in ?Standard? mode and same thing in custom mode but now with more compression . And of course it has better components and lower noise floor. If I were to choose between the two of them and given that I hadn?t own an original yet, I?d definitely choose the Waza. But Joshuasince I already own an original, I?d have to sast and I?d have to buy one again, I?d say I?d would spend the extra money for the Waza.

Over the years, I've gotten away from Boss and into boutique pedals. The reasons have a lot to do with the more organic and diverse tones offered by the best of the small makers. The retro ethic also has appeal: it's nice to see new noise boxes based on classic designs. Boss's Waza Craft line is a smart and affordable way to take the company into that boutique market, and the results are great. The Blues Driver is one of the company's classic pedals, and the Waza Craft treatment gives you the old gritty tone, plus a rich, growling update with the simple flick of a switch. This pedal can cover what's advertised (blues!) and get you almost all the way to metal. Almost. But you can certainly cover a lot ground here, and it sounds muscular. This pedal demands that you clean up your technique, too. Overall, this thing is a little treasure.
