I bought this kit for my 7 year old daughter, and so far I'm very pleased with it. The hardware is surprisingly solid. My only criticisms are minor. The rims are plastic, so I worry about their durability (although they do seem pretty solid). The cymbals sound pretty chintzy, but that's to be expected. The crash actually does fairly well as a ride/bell. The toms & bass drum sound great (once tuned). It's nice that the batter/resonant heads have independent lugs... sometimes junior kits have the heads bound by a single, long, lug, so tuning is a challenge. Not the case with this kit.
The snare leaves something to be desired, but I suspect that's simply because of the plastic heads. I'm going to try putting on a G2 coated batter, and I suspect that will make a big difference. It does have proper snares on it, which is not always the case with Junior kits. Overall, a fantastic value & a pretty solid little kit.
