**A must have pedal & DI for me, can't gig without it.**
VTDI is extremely sensitive, depending on the output level of the bass you'd need to adjust the "Drive" level to control the amount of breakout. Once you understand this concept, it's really easy to get that Ampeg like sound without getting dirty. I can easily go from B15 to SVT with a quick dial.
The key again is to first adjust the "Drive" to set the amount of clean/dirt (every bass is different), use "Character" to adjust for different emulations of Ampeg sounds, use EQs cautiously, they are very powerful and can alter the tone drastically. Finally once they are all dialed in, then set your final "Level" to match your original unaffected signal.....easy peasy.

I get that it's going for the ampeg sound, but the SVT can do so much with getting dirty. When the drive is barely turned on, you get pretty noticeable distortion. If you turn the character, drive, and blend almost all the way down, it gets clean, but very lifeless. If this was just a stomp box I could live with it, but I use it for the DI.
