A4 & A5 Ultra Fretted and Fretless SA Basses.

The new A4 & A5 Ultra SA semi-acoustic basses feature more sonic possibilities than ever with the addition of a Low Profile Lace Sensor electric pickup with side mounted volume and tone controls.

Other features include Custom Godin electronics with individual saddle transducers in the bridge, custom preamp section voiced specifically for the A4 & A5 Ultra SA as well as output and 13-pin capabilities for computer and synth access. Incredible acoustic bass sounds are available through the output jack and controlling your tone is made easy with the Custom Godin Preamp section. The two-chambered body design found in all of the A-Series instruments is also at work in the A4 & A5 Ultra. This design resists feedback as well as the negative effects that loud stage levels can have on top vibration.

Baby Dove bought me an earlier A4 without the magnetic pickup for $700 used at L&M. I bought a very fancy case for this sucker because if you look in my bass closet there is a lot of same same going on and this is something else, indeed. I wish the preamp had disappearing buttons as you can easily shift if you get to Pete Townsend and results can be dramatic. All told the sound of the preamp makes the bass, it's lascivious with Rotosound strings. The neck gets special mention, best of a bunch. The Telecaster body is heavy but it doesn't matter. You can fall in love with this bass.

This is a beautiful bass. The tone is awesome. I haven't even really gotten around to using the midi capabilities but the possibilities are pretty exciting. I have played solid walnut upright bass, Rikkies and Precisions. This is right up there with the best of them. The tone is incredible. I love it.
