I'm a bass player from back in the 80s and 90s. I hadn't played bass in over 10 years but started to get the itch again so I searched for a low end (but still good quality) bass. I also wanted something small to play around the house or at work (i'm self employed ;-) ). For looks, the Jackson wasn't my first choice because it looks so 'metal' but my other 2 choices sounded, looked and felt cheap. (mainly the Squier Bronco basses).
I love the satin black on this Jackson and the bass feels good to hold and play. The action's not as fast as my old Ibanez but still pretty good. I like the sound difference between the 2 pickups and you can really get a good megadeth bass sound if you want or Iron maiden bass or just adjust the pickup and tone and you're playing straight ahead rock without too much twang. I just got this bass so I haven't explored its full potential but for what I paid, I think I got a great bass for the price.
