Carrying a distinct vintage-inspired design, the redesigned 000-18 offers many of the features found in Martin's pre-war era guitars. The 000-18, which has a beautiful aging toned top in Sitka spruce, is married with genuine mahogany back and sides. The body is edged with tortoise binding and complemented with a polished finish. The 24.9" short scale model's neck features a modified low oval profile with Performing Artist taper, with a width of 1-3/4" at the nut and 2-3/16" string spacing for easy playability. Nickel open-geared tuners with butterbean knobs are found with a rosewood headplate, which displays a large old style Martin logo.

I purchased a 2016 model. The ooo-18 always seemed a bit inderapperciated. Folks tend to go for a D series or even an OM.
Martin in 2014 revoiced it, giving it scalloped braces & vintage aesthetics. This includes open gear tuners, a aged top finish & tortoise binding. The results are not only stunning to look at, but the new bracing gives this guitar a life of it's own. Extremely responsive, beautiful fundamental notes & a sprinkling of overtones. The short scale & 1 3/4" nut make it super comfortable to play,
I have the pleasure of owning guitars easly worth double the cost of this one. However, my 000-18 is the one I always gravitate to. ITS increadably balanced, has a sizable amount of bass for a smaller body. It also handles anything you throw at it. From fingerstyle to flatpick. I actually bought it as a fingerstyle guitar, but she gets flatpicked at least 50% of the time.
At $3k+, it's not an affordable option for everyone. But..... this is a guitar to grow old with. An investment, a family airloom.... a MARTIN!
