The finish is nice in general but the one I got has some scratches on the body and there is a gouge on the back of the neck. Not worth returning it over but not impressed. The fretboard shows signs of shrinking and expanding as there are some gaps at the fret ends. Another thing I'm not impressed about but there aren't any loose or sharp frets and after putting some new strings on the bass and setting it up I was able to get the action I want and it plays well. The pickup is high output. Very loud and pretty versatile. I had a Sterling Ray34 with a 3-band active preamp and I prefer the 2-band active preamp on this bass much more. To me it has a fuller sound and has a wider range. The 3-band preamp always seemed muffled to me. The basswood body is heavier than I thought it might be. It feels substantial but isn't cumbersome. The weight is even. No neck dive. The tuners are kinda rough. One in particular feels like it is grinding as I turn it. They seem to be keeping it in tune so far but I expect they may need to be replaced in the future. I've decided to keep the bass but I wouldn't argue with anyone if they would return it or have it replaced over the issues I brought up here. Even taking in consideration the price and the fact that it is considered an entry level bass, this is on the line of being acceptable.
