Charmain Stewart

Having been part of the Long & McQuade lesson program since 2003, Charmain has a great understanding of the needs of our families and students to help them get the most out of their enrollment here at the Hamilton Music Lesson Centre. As a flute student, Charmain has a first hand understanding of the value of weekly lessons to improve your skills.

Brad Cheeseman - Bass, Guitar music lessons in Hamilton

Brad Cheeseman (Bass, Guitar)

Brad Cheeseman is a bassist, guitarist and composer who has been playing music for most of his life. He has released several albums which have received airplay across Canada, and won two Hamilton Music Awards. Brad was honoured to win the Grand Prix de Jazz at the 2016 Montreal Jazz Festival, and has shared the stage with many great Canadian jazz musicians. Brad holds a Master's degree in music composition from York University, and previously studied jazz performance at both Mohawk and Humber College. His rate is $22.00/half-hour private lesson.

Chelsea White - Guitar music lessons in Hamilton

Chelsea White (Guitar)

Chelsea is a graduate of the Mohawk College Applied Music Program. An accomplished guitarist and songwriter, she has been performing a wide variety of music across Southern Ontario for 10 years. Chelsea has been featured on several releases in that time and has comprehensive experience in the professional recording environment. She is fluent in many styles and can create individual lesson plans that cater to each student. Her rate is $22/ half-hour private lesson.

Chris Wallace - Drums music lessons in Hamilton

Chris Wallace has enjoyed a 20 year career in music, playing various styles from jazz to a repertoire of pop, rock, R n B and funk. He traveled to New York where he studied with world renowned drum clinician and educator Dom Famularo. He has shared stages across Europe with bands such as Asia, King Crimson, Uriah Heep, Saga and has performed with world class cabaret artists in the UK. Chris has a long teaching history for all ages and his rate is $22.00/half-hour private lesson.

Chris Wheeler (Guitar, Bass, Ukulele)

Chris Wheeler comes from a musical family and a tradition of career musicians. A graduate of Mohawk College Applied Music program he has played alongside acts as diverse as Jason Bonham, Stephen Page and Ian McLagan (Small Faces, The Faces, The Rolling Stones) to name a few. Chris was a music director for Tony and Tina's Wedding at Second City. As well as the house band for CHCH's Tiny Talent Time reboot in 2014, backing up tomorrows stars today! Chris also has been a band leader and music director for Theatre Ancaster. His rate is $22.00/half-hour private lesson.

Crystal Lee - Violin, Piano music lessons in Hamilton

Crystal Lee (Violin, Piano)

Crystal holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Humber College, where she studied Violin, and her Grade 9 RCM in Piano. She is currently studying for her ARCT examination through the Royal Conservatory, and continues to add to her teaching qualifications. She is an active freelance musician for various artists including Andre Bisson, Jeff Scott and the Buddy RayVons, and Tapio Orkidea. Crystal's rate for a half-hour private lesson is $23.

Dave Simpson - Drums music lessons in Hamilton

Dave Simpson has studied jazz performance at Mohawk College and Classical Percussion at the University of Toronto. As a percussionist, Dave has performed with several orchestras including: The Hamilton Philharmonic, and the NAO with Boris Brott. Dave performs with several pop/rock, jazz, and theatre groups including: Big Rude Jake, Sophia Perlman, Shawn Trotter, Chris Wheeler, Theatre Ancaster. Dave also teaches marching, and mallet percussion at M.M. Robinson High School in Burlington. Dave has published an instructional book for beginners and his private lesson rate is $22.00/half-hour.

Ian Brown (Aisling) is a composer, producer, and pianist based in Hamilton. Since graduating from the Mohawk College Applied Music program, he has been present in the scene writing music for films, games, and various collaborative projects while also performing as a sideman ( In addition to learning piano, Ian’s approach to teaching caters to those interested in writing music, jazz improvisation, and how to connect with others musically. Ian always encourages an easygoing and fun learning environment for his students. His rate is $22 per ½ hour lesson.

Jeff Plumbley - Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone music lessons in Hamilton

Jeff Plumbley (Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone)

Jeff Plumbley is a graduate of the Mohawk College Applied Music program where he was the lead trumpet in the Mohawk College Big Band. He has toured Europe twice with the Hamilton All Star Jazz Band performing at the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Vienne Jazz Festival. Jeff had the opportunity to perform at the Orange Bowl in Miami with the Burlington Teen Tour Band. He is currently performing with many different groups throughout the Greater Hamilton Area. Justin Dunlop (Guitar, Electric Bass, Double Bass, Mandolin, Ukulele)

Justin Dunlop is a skilled bassist, guitarist, and singer-songwriter. He holds an Honours Diploma in Applied Music from Mohawk College and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Humber College. Justin has been teaching students all of ages for over 9 years in the Hamilton/Toronto area. Recently, he has performed his own music at several festivals, including the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Harvest Picnic, as well as the HMA's, where he shared the stage with notable artists like Jesse Cook, Bahamas, Joel Plaskett, Ryan Adams, Terra Lightfoot, and Tomi Swick. Kaitlin Balogh - Violin music lessons in Hamilton

Kaitlin Balogh has been a music enthusiast for as long as she remembers. Her musical education began early on violin and formally studied classical music for thirteen years. During that time, she completed her grade 8 RCM. Her formal education included participating in master classes with David Stuart from the University of Ottawa and Mauricio Fuks from Indinana University, and was a member of the Kingston youth Orchestra for over 6 years. Leah has been a performing singer songwriter in Hamilton for many years. She is an alumni of the prestigious Hamilton Children's Choir and has worked on professional studio recordings at the famous Grant Avenue Studio. She holds an Honours Diploma in vocal performance from Mohawk College and grade 6 RCM in piano. She had travelled to Nashville for song writing seminars and to Los Angeles for vocal coaching from celebrity vocal coach Lis Lewis. She has performed as a background vocalist for the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra and with the Hamilton Music Collectives event opening for David Clayton Thomas. Throughout her exploration of many genres of music from classical to pop music, she has developed an appreciation and passion for all forms of music and is well and equipped to teach a variety of styles. Olivia Brown is a bassist, pianist and vocalist from Hamilton. In addition to completing her Grade 9 RCM in Piano, Olivia studied classical piano at the University of Toronto and graduated from Mohawk College's Applied Music program in Bass Performance. Sal Rosselli is a multi-instrumentalist that has been playing music for over 30 years. With this experience, he offers a unique method and outlook of studying music. His saxophone alone has brought him to study at the Berklee College of Music in Boston under a scholarship and travel worldwide playing with artists such as Johnny Ellison, Gino Paoli, Lucio Dalla, and Johnny Reid at the 100th Grey Cup opening ceremony. Shavini Fernando - Voice, Piano music lessons in Hamilton

Shavini Fernando (Voice, Piano)

Shavini Fernando is a vocalist and a songwriter who graduated from Mohawk College in 2015. She holds a Diploma of Applied Music with Honours. She started her musical life at the age of 8 as a singer in her home country of Sri Lanka. After she moved to Canada, she began studying flute and piano. Shavini has extensive experience as a performer, conductor and director in choirs, bands and musical theatre productions. She was a part of the Artword Artbar Theatre production 'MacBush, the Musical' (written by David Dawson), as well as a nominee for the Emerging Artist category at the Hamilton Arts Awards in 2016. Shavini's rate for a half-hour private lesson is $22.00.
