Clayton Yates - Guitar, Mandolin, Ukulele, Dobro music lessons in Cobourg

Clayton Yates (Guitar, Mandolin, Ukulele, Dobro)

Clayton Yates has worked as a professional musician for 15+ years. He was born into a musical family, and started playing and performing at a very young age. By the time Clayton was in his twenties, he was playing alongside international touring acts such as Washboard Hank, Petunia, members of Prairie Oyster, and Rockabilly Hall Of Famer Ronnie Hayward. Clayton currently plays regularly with his jazz band The Hot Club De Port Hope, hillbilly boogie outfit The Quickshifters, as well as various other oddball hillbilly and rock and roll acts. Clayton's rate is $22/ per half hour.

Dave Allen - Drum Set, Guitar music lessons in Cobourg

Dave Allen (Drum Set, Guitar)

Dave has been teaching drums and guitar since 2007. Lessons focus on the musical interests and goals of the students. All styles are taught, though his playing leans toward funk and blues-rock. He often plays guitar along with drum students and vice versa, playing both structured songs and loose improvisations. David began playing and taking formal lessons at age 12. If students are interested in learning about the recording process, he also has a background in audio engineering and graduated from the Recording Arts Program of Canada.Dave's rate is $22/ per half hour.

Jim Yates - Guitar, Mandolin, Banjo, Ukulele music lessons in Cobourg

Jim Yates (Guitar, Mandolin, Banjo, Ukulele)

Jim bought his first guitar circa 1960 and it has been a passion ever since. Along the way he has picked up mandolin, banjo, dulcimer, autoharp, and ukulele. Jim taught public school for 32 years and has studied instrumental music through York University. He has played acoustic roots music: bluegrass, old time, Irish traditional, early country, and eclectic acoustic in various groups since the 1970's. Jim has taught folk instruments for the past 30 years with students of all ages. He also sings in the Northumberland Orchestra & Choir and plays with his band, The Maple Leaf Jug Band. Jim's rate is $22/ per half hour.

Lorne K. Hemmerling - Guitar, Bass, Theory music lessons in Cobourg

Lorne K. Hemmerling (Guitar, Bass, Theory)

Lorne has been teaching guitar and bass professionally since 1992. Over the years, he has taught countless students (beginners to advanced) how to play or improve their chops. Lorne held teaching positions at Studios in Whitby and Oshawa before opening his own retail/music education facility in Port Hope. Past students include Luke Hoskin, Tim Millar, and Rody Walker of PROTEST THE HERO, Kyle Renton of Port Hope based band TRAIN WRECK and Ian Fraser of Cobourg based bands The TUNE O MATICS and rock duo CLEOPATRICK. Lorne is also a composer/producer and has worked on some high quality original recordings with The Elizabeth Storms Duo, and more currently Henderson & Hemmerling. Lorne is also the author of a beginner to intermediate blues method. He is the founding member of the classic rock and blues cover band, JACKHAMMER. Lorne's rate is $23/ per half hour.

Tyson Galloway - Guitar, Bass, Ukulele music lessons in Cobourg

Tyson Galloway (Guitar, Bass, Ukulele)

Tyson has been a full time musician since 2004. He teaches any style of music; classical, jazz, blues, funk, R&B, rock, country, and heavy metal to name a few. Tyson's forte is teaching people to become working musicians who are able to play with other people and improvise by knowing scales, chord theory, basic types of progressions, and learning what is right for each song. He focuses on proper technique, and uses basic theory to ensure a thorough understanding of the instrument, songs, and communication with other musicians. He is also very enthused to help people accompany themselves while they sing. Tyson plays in many regularly gigging bands of varying styles, such as Madman's Window, Washboard Hank, and The Invisible Sidemen. He specializes in jazz bass, funk bass, blues guitar, and fingerstyle guitar. Tyson's rate is $23/ per half hour.
