Find qualified music teachers at St. John’s largest music lesson centre! Conveniently located on the west end of Kenmount Road, we offer quality musical instruction for all skill levels on a variety of instruments! We specialize in all styles of music, from rock and pop to classical and even traditional fiddle and accordion, unique to our Newfoundland heritage! Our outstanding teachers provide a comfortable environment for guitar lessons, piano lessons, whatever your interest may be! Open Monday to Friday, 10am to 9pm and Saturdays 9am to 5pm, we offer flexible scheduling in our 14 well-equipped studios. There are no registration fees for lessons and no commitment is required! We also provide recitals twice yearly free of charge for all students, friends and family! Alanna Fitzpatrick - Voice music lessons in St. John

Alanna Fitzpatrick (Voice)

Alanna Fitzpatrick teaches voice lessons to male and female students ages 5 to adult. She works with a broad range of music repertoire and a variety of styles to suit the individual needs of the student. Alanna studied voice and completed studies in music and music education at Memorial University, and is currently active as a singer and an instrumentalist. For the past decade, she has been a private voice instructor as well as a music educator in the school system within the St. John's area. She has vast experience with choral singing through membership and work with Shallaway and is a founding member of Lady Cove Women's Choir. Alanna’s rate is $24 per half hour private lesson.

Chanel Rolle - Voice music lessons in St. John

Chanel Rolle (Voice)

Chanel Rolle received her Associates of Arts Degree from The College of The Bahamas in May 2014. She currently attends Memorial University of Newfoundland where she is pursuing her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Musicology with hopes of becoming a professional Opera singer and Ethnomusicologist. She has been studying voice under the tutelage of Shelley Neville and Dr. Caroline Schiller. While in the Bahamas, Chanel taught music in the private school system. Her students and ensembles competed in the E. Clement Bethel National Arts Festival where they earned various accolades. Additionally, she has extensive choral experience as a member of the Highgrove Singers, the Bahamas National Children’s Choir and Youth Choir, where she has performed internationally representing the Bahamas. She is a member of the MUN Opera Workshop Program, Jazz, and Latin ensembles where she has been featured in their performances. As a multifaceted teacher, Chanel’s rate is $24 per half hour private lesson.

Clayton Saunders (Drums, Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Mandolin, Piano)

Clayton Saunders is a composer, performer, and private music teacher from Grand Falls-Windsor who studied jazz guitar at McMaster University. Since moving back to Newfoundland, Clayton has played music all across the island with multiple groups including international artists such as Chris Kirby, Matthew Hornell, Brad Jefford and The Once. He has also been in multiple tribute concerts, such as The David Bowie Tribute Show (guitar), The 20th Anniversary Tribute of Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill (guitar), a John Prine Tribute (drums), and a Tragically Hip Tribute (drums). Clayton currently teaches guitar, bass, mandolin, ukulele, piano, drums (kit) and auxiliary percussion and has been teaching since 2003. Clayton’s rate is $24 per half hour private lesson.

Cleary Maddigan - Cello music lessons in St. John

Cleary Maddigan (Cello)

Cleary is a recent graduate of the Bachelor of Music program at Memorial University. Cleary has enjoyed performing music from the spry age of eight, when he began playing cello in a strings program offered by his elementary school. He continued playing cello in the public school system until grade eleven, when he joined the Newfoundland Symphony Youth Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Peter Gardner. During this time, he studied privately with Theo Weber. During his studies at Memorial, Cleary has had the pleasure of studying composition with Dr. Andrew Staniland, Dr. Clark Ross, and cello with Dr. Vernon Regehr. Cleary is the recipient of the NSYO Founders Leadership Award. Cleary currently lives, studies, performs, and works in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. Cleary charges $24.00 per half hour session

Colin Mackey - voice music lessons in St. John

Colin is pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Memorial University, studying voice under E. Mark Murphy and Dr. Caroline Schiller. Colin started his music education as a member of Shallaway Youth Choir, in addition to this Colin represented Newfoundland and Labrador in the 2016 National Youth Choir of Canada. Most recently Colin has been featured in performances with the MUN Opera Workshop Program as well as the Halifax Summer Opera Festival. Colin is an enthusiastic and passionate teacher who is always striving for the highest standard of music education and voice performance. Colin's rate is $23 per half hour private lesson.

Colleen Beson-Nolan - Piano music lessons in St. John

Coleen has a Bachelor of Music in Education and a Bachelor of Education from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. She teaches at Mary Queen of Peace School as the choral director and has taught private piano lessons for several years. Colleen’s rate is $23 per half hour private lesson.

Damien studied at the Conservatoire de Saintes and has a degree from the Music International of Nancy. Damien has played with the finalist of the French version of The Voice, has toured Europe with several bands, and has written and performed music for a CBC documentary. He teaches guitar, electric bass, ukulele, and the Senior Jam class; Damien has also published two books! He has been teaching music since 1997 (Damien donne des lessons en Français également). Damien also teaches our Friday Jam Class as well as workshop classes that focus on Groove, Rhythm, Musical genres, Music history, Music Theory, Composition, Musical arrangements and Group work. Dave Nathanael - Violin music lessons in St. John

Dave Nathanael (Violin)

Becoming the winner of SPH-International Violin Competition led him to his Bachelor of Music degree (Pelita Harapan Conservatory, studied with Dr. Tomislav Dimov) and his Master’s degree in Violin Performance/Pedagogy from Memorial University of Newfoundland, studied with Dr. Nancy Dahn.
He’s been teaching as a certified Suzuki Teacher since 2008 in Indonesia, Australia, Singapore, and Canada. Dave is an active orchestra player in Canada (Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra and Opera on the Avalon), Indonesia (Jakarta Concert Orchestra’s associate leader, Jakarta Simfonia Orchestra, Ananda Sukarlan Symphony’s leader, and Jakarta Sinfonietta’s associate leader), Australia (Brisbane Concert Orchestra, Orchestra Concertino, and Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra), Singapore (Baroque Collegium Singapore’s leader), and performed with Russia’s Symphony Orchestra. Dave's rate is $26 per half hour private lesson.

Frank Fusari teaches electric and double bass as well as piano accordion. His teaching and performing experience includes school concerts and workshops for all ages, principal bass with the NSO, Atlantic String Quartet, Shallaway, Spirit of Newfoundland, the opera “Ann and Seamus”, as well as playing with Pat Boyle, Sandy Morris, Sean Panting, and Duane Andrews. Fred has been playing drums for over twenty years. He is a freelance studio musician, with extensive experience in recording sessions for folk, rock, and country artists. In addition to the above styles, Fred is also well versed in funk, Motown, and hard rock, having performed in these styles on the national club circuit. James Paluk - Flute music lessons in St. John

James Paluk (Flute)

Originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, James is a freelance flutist and teacher in St. John’s, Newfoundland. James holds an undergraduate degree in flute performance from Brandon University as well as a master’s degree in pedagogy from Memorial University of Newfoundland. He is currently completing his second master’s degree from MUN in flute performance. His pedagogical studies have lead him to explore effective and varied educational techniques and language, as well as what makes efficient and successful practicing. James currently works with the CBS Concert Band as well as assistant-teaching the beginner and step-up bands. He also teaches the flute classes through the local Sistema-inspired program, Project Grace. He has performed with numerous ensembles including Opera on the Avalon, The Royal Winnipeg Rifles, and the Winnipeg Wind Ensemble. James’ lesson rate is $25 per half hour lesson.

Jeff has been writing and performing music for over forty years. His formal music education includes jazz studies at the Banff School of Fine Arts, and vocal studies at the University of Toronto. Jeff has performed and recorded with folk, rock, R&B, and jazz bands, and is currently performing in four local groups. Jeff has been teaching guitar and vocals since 1980. Jeff’s rate is $25 per half hour private lesson.

Jordan Mills - Saxophone, Clarinet and Piano music lessons in St. John

Jordan Mills (Saxophone, Clarinet and Piano)

Jordan is from Campbellton, a small community on the north-eastern coast of Newfoundland. He completed his Bachelor of Music at Memorial University and is currently working on his Bachelor of Music Education degree. Jordan conducts youth bands in both the Canadian Cadet Organization and the Salvation Army, and runs a community Youth Band Program which sees over 60 students each week. This work has earned him several teaching opportunities at summer music seminars in both Newfoundland and Ontario. Most recently, he was awarded a grant to travel to Pasadena, California to participate in the Tournament of Roses Parade. His passion for instrumental and ensemble music has led him to develop a versatility on low brass instruments and the piano, in addition to his study of the saxophone. Jordan’s rate is $23 per half hour private lesson.

Katharine Nuotio-Trimm - Voice and Piano music lessons in St. John

Katharine Nuotio-Trimm is a 4th year voice major studying under Dr. Jane Leibel. Katharine is an avid member of both the Memorial University Festival and Chamber choir and has been featured in their performances. In addition to her work as a performer, she is also a dedicated teacher and volunteer. In 2014, Katharine founded the Grand Falls Windsor "Creative Arts Program”. As a dedicated teacher, her students have been featured in the Kiwanis Music Festival and provincial musical productions such as The Sound Of Music (Mokami Players) and A Gift To Last (Northcliffe Drama). Matt Hender has a Bachelor of Music from Memorial University and has been involved in the local music scene for almost 10 years. He currently plays with multiple MusicNL and ECMA nominated rock band Long Distance Runners, Newfoundland’s bluegrass band, Crooked Stovepipe, and the Greek music group, The Forgotten Bouzouki. He has performed with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, Jazz East, the Klezmer group, The B’ys in the Shtetl, as well as playing bass on Amelia Curran’s Juno winning album, Hunter, Hunter. Matt teaches electric bass, double bass, beginner cello, piano, guitar, and clarinet. He has been teaching since 2004. Matt’s rate is $24 per half hour private lesson.

Natalie Finn - Violin, Fiddle music lessons in St. John

Natalie Finn is a recent graduate of the Masters of Violin Performance/Pedagogy program from Memorial University, where she studied with Dr. Nancy Dahn. Natalie is an active performer in the St. John’s area, having played with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, Opera on the Avalon, Atlantic Light Theatre, and Best Kind Productions. She was also a member of the MUN Chamber Orchestra, assuming roles as concertmaster and principal second. She also participated in the Tuckamore Chamber Music Festival (St. John’s, NL) and the SoundSCAPE festival (Cesena, Italy).
Natalie loves teaching students of all backgrounds using a variety of teaching methods, and tailors her teaching to suit each student's interests.

Rioko graduated from Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo with a Bachelor Degree in Music and she also has a Diploma in Advanced Piano Performance from Concordia University in Montreal. Rioko has played recitals in Japan and Canada, accompanied many singers and instrumentalists, and she has been teaching piano, the rudiments of theory, harmony and the history of music for over twenty years. Rioko’s rate is $22 per half hour private lesson.

Sharon offers piano lessons for all ages including a specialized curriculum for beginner adult students. Having her grade 9 RCM, she will set goals like RCM exams for the truly ambitious and offer morning, afternoon and evening lessons to suit various lifestyles. Sharon has played and toured in various bands of different genres for many years, has recorded 2 CDs with reggae band Pressure Drop and has been teaching since 1997. Steve is a composer, performer and private teacher from Baie Verte, Newfoundland. He has been teaching for 15+ years. Steve studied classical and jazz guitar as well as jazz bass at Acadia University, earning his degree in Classical Guitar Performance. He has worked extensively with theatre, as musical director for Essence of Newfoundland, composer for Spirit of Newfoundland, and musical director/arranger for 2 years for the 24 Hour Play, a charity production that sees artists prepare and perform a full length musical in 24 hours. As a solo instrumentalist he specializes in modern fingerstyle guitar. His music has been featured on television, including a segment on MTV Live, and he is currently finishing work on his debut album. Steve has played in a variety of groups, including classic rock/metal cover bands, country groups, jazz ensembles, and punk bands. He teaches electric, acoustic and classical guitar, bass, banjo, ukulele, and mandolin, as well as theory, composition/songwriting, and improvisation for all pitched instruments. His students have had success in Kiwanis festivals, and have recieved Gold Medal honors in Royal Conservatory exams. His rate is $24 per half hour.

Tony Tucker - Drums, Hand Drums music lessons in St. John

Tony Tucker (Drums, Hand Drums)

Tony is a percussionist from St. John's who started playing the drum kit at the age of 10. He is well versed in many styles including rock, traditional, folk, flamenco, West African, Middle-Eastern, and Latin percussion. He’s recorded and toured with several bands including ECMA nominees The Danette Eddy Band and Potbelly, and has performed around the world with Guinean percussion group Fola. Tony's passion for West African music has led him to study under master djembe players Famoudou Konate, Mohamed Kalifa Kamara, Mamady Keita and M'Bemba Bangoura. Tony has also performed with the ECMA winners El Viento Flamenco (Roots/Traditional Recording of the Year, 2007) at many festivals including the PEI Folk and Jazz Festival, The Atlantic Film Festival and the prestigious Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival. Tony’s rate is $24 per half hour private lesson.
