Our Drums Teachers:

Jonathan Kipping - Drums and Percussion music lessons in Saint John

Jonathan Kipping (Drums and Percussion)

Jonathan performs and gives lessons mainly in Rock, Jazz, & Musical Theatre styles. He also gives clinics, educational drum circles and workshops (e.g. Long & McQuade, KVHS, SJB-King Edward School, The ONE Change, & The Boys and Girls Club), and accompanies dancers in Ballet, Modern, African and Scottish styles. Jonathan hopes to instill in drummers of all ages the many joys of drumming, on the drum set—and beyond! Jonathan developed his unique but tried-and-true approach through Orchestral experience (mainly on Timpani), African drumming (on djembe & dunun) and completion of an Interdisciplinary Studies degree at Montreal’s Concordia University (in Jazz Drumming and Electro-Acoustic Music Composition). After further university study, performing and giving lessons in Nova Scotia and British Columbia, Jonathan returned to Saint John in 2002, newly dedicated to educating, performing, and ongoing learning… eventually through ABDA_Drumming – an initiative to help expand drum and percussion activities, awareness, education and performances in the Saint John area. If you are looking for an experienced and dedicated educator for you or your child, and a locally-orientated performer who can organize a drumming or full-band event tailored to your needs, please consider Jonathan Kipping. His rate is $21 per half hour.
