Amelie Roberts - Violin, Fiddle, Viola, Strings music lessons in Winnipeg

Amelie Roberts (Violin, Fiddle, Viola, Strings)

Amelie is a recent graduate from The University of Ottawa, Bachelor of Music Program: Viola Performance, Class of 2019. Some of her awards and certification include:

Brian Klowak - Woodwinds, Violin, Strings music lessons in Winnipeg

Brian Klowak (Woodwinds, Violin, Strings)

teaches Violin, Saxophone, Flute and Clarinet. He has studied the Suzuki approach and has a special interest in fiddling and bluegrass music. On the sax, he has attended the Banff Fine Arts Centre Summer Jazz Workshops where he studied with Lee Konitz and Dave Liebman. He has also studied privately with Ralph Bowen and Pat Labarbera. He has recorded with the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra and has also currently performs with The Ron Paley Big Band. Brian leads his own jazz group and plays with the Winnipeg Jazz Festival and Jazz Winnipeg’s Nu Sounds Series performing his own music. Performing with WSO and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet he remains the best in his field. He is a sax clinician in the public school system. He has a creative/collaborative approach to teaching, focusing on fundamentals. He welcomes students of all ages. Brian teaches at our Winnipeg lesson centre and his rate is $24 per half hour.

Carlen Malinowski (Guitar, Woodwinds, Piano, Drums)

Carlen began classical piano at age 5 and completed Grade 10 in the Royal Conservatory Examinations. In elementary Carlen discovered she excelled in music and began to play flute, saxophone, guitar and take private lessons until age 17. Over achieving in music led her to become an accomplished musician and world traveller by her early 20's. She played in latin, classical & rock bands abroad and then started teaching youth programs when she landed back in Winnipeg. Her skills with identifying and blending technique and the foundation for a students lifelong relationship with music is very uplifting for everyone in her class. Carlen teaches at our Winnipeg lesson centre and her rate is $25 per half hour.

Detlef Hindemith - Trumpet, Brass music lessons in Winnipeg

Detlef Hindemith (Trumpet, Brass)

Detlef performs as a freelance Trumpet soloist with extensive experience performing baroque and sacred music, including playing with local orchestras bands. He enjoys teaching different styles of music from pop hits, to jazz and classical. His commitment is to help students improve their playing abilities for Band, achieve individual goals, or just play for enjoyment. Music lessons should be an enjoyable and rewarding experience, uniquely tailored to each student.
Detlef has been performing and studying music for over 25 years. Recognized with a Diploma of Distinction in Performance, he was educated in Trumpet and theory studies from the curriculum of The Royal Conservatory of Music. Detlef is also a trombonist who enjoys teaching the intricacies of playing the Trombone.
As well as being an experienced piano instructor, Detlef teaches beginner to advanced Trumpet, beginner to intermediate Trombone, as well as beginner Tuba. With his experience and knowledge in diverse music styles, he welcomes students of all ages and playing skills. Detlef teaches at our Winnipeg Lesson Centre and his rate is $25 per half hour.

Eric is an experienced teacher and multi-instrumentalist who began music training at age 5 and began winning competitions at age 6. He has been involved with many groups that have received radio play, and has performed in other countries and large venues throughout Canada. His experience also includes studio recording and composing. Eric's years of teaching have enabled him to adapt to each individual and assist students in the way best suited to them, whether it's leisurely learning favorite songs or more intense personal skill development. Frank Rizzuto - Guitar music lessons in Winnipeg

Frank Rizzuto (Guitar)

Frank has been playing guitar for 20 years and believes in making each music lesson a fun and enjoyable experience. Frank has been teaching at Long & Mcquade since 2005. Frank organizes the successful Summer Rock Camp where students write, record, and perform live together. He works in public schools and attended the University of Manitoba where he took music courses in History of Jazz, Music Theory 1, History of Music, and played guitar with the U of M Jazz Orchestra. Songs that he has co-written can often be heard on CBC radio and throughout Canada and USA . Frank specializes in teaching blues, rock, country, and folk guitar as well as song writing. Frank believes that every student learns at a different pace and being able to change approaches quickly to what is being taught, helps to motivate and have a successful student. Frank teaches at our Winnipeg lesson centre and his rate is $25 per half hour.

Gabriela Ocejo - Voice, Guitar music lessons in Winnipeg

Gabriela Ocejo (Voice, Guitar)

Gabriela grew up in Argentina and started playing guitar at the age of 11, taking 3 years of guitar at the Conservatory of Music of Bahia Blanca. Captivated by the local music scene in her hometown in Argentina she studied voice with Milton Amadeo and guitar with jazz guitarrist Ramiro Penovi. She performed in various local venues in Buenos Aires and Bahia Blanca. In 2011 she moved to Winnipeg and attend U of M on a Scholarship for Voice. She has since been performing with different local bands and continued learning from teachers and graduates from the Uof M Jazz Faculty. She has also participated in the Uof M Jazz Ensamble as a singer. You can catch Gabriela playing guitar in 30's Swing band Sunny Roseland, the Jazz Manouche band “Juvel”, her South American Music band “Los Mareados”, among others. Her passion for music and multicultural background make her an eclectic musician and a versatile teacher. She welcomes all ages and absolutely loves children! Gabriela teaches at our Winnipeg lesson centre and her rate is $24 per half hour.

Gage has 17 years advanced knowledge in performance and musical theory in a wide variety of genres . Completed First-year of University in International Baccelaureate programs and has studied 6 years Jazz piano and theory study under Bryan Harder, Will Bonness (currently teaching at University of Manitoba), and Michelle Grégoire. Gage has achieved an advanced degree of playing over 25 instruments including piano, guitar, violin, viola, cello, contrabass, electric bass, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, oboe, bassoon, trumpet, cornet, French horn, trombone, tuba, mandolin, banjo, oud, dulcimer, accordion, and percussion. Jaime Carrasco - Drums music lessons in Winnipeg

Jaime Carrasco (Drums)

Jaime has been playing Drums since 1985. He has a College Diploma in Jazz music from Malaspina University-College (now Vancouver Island University) in Nanaimo, BC, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours degree from York University in Toronto. While at York, Jaime studied South Indian Classical Drumming with Trichy Sankaran. He was accepted into the prestigious International Jazz Workshop at the Banff Centre in 2003. While there, he studied with such jazz luminaries as Dave Douglas, Mark Turner and Clarence Penn. He then went on to perform in a jazz trio setting for Carnival Cruise Lines from 2003-2005. He has been teaching and performing since returning to Winnipeg in 2005, and has performed/performs with such acts as Papa Mambo, The Perms, C. Ladd, Flying Fox and the Hunter Gatherers, Sweet Alibi, along with all of Winnipeg's finest Jazz musicians. He is well versed in Rock, Jazz, and Latin styles. He welcomes beginner to advanced students. Jaime teaches at our Winnipeg lesson centre and his rate is $26 per half hour.

Jonathan Kirouac - Guitar, Woodwinds, Sax, Clarinet, Flute music lessons in Winnipeg

Jonathan Kirouac (Guitar, Woodwinds, Sax, Clarinet, Flute)

Jonathan has been teaching Alto/Tenor Saxophone and Flute for students of all ages for the past 5 years. He also teaches beginner Clarinet. Over the last 12 years he has been using his skills in the Winnipeg scene playing with as many groups as possible; such as Moses Mayes (early years), and the JD Edwards band. He also has experience with studio performance and session recording. Jonathan has played guitar in the Winnipeg music scene for over a decade. Involved in bands such as the Velvet Pill, and the Civil Disobedients, his style ranges from Rock/Blues/Metal and all the way to a little Jazz and Classical. He teaches guitar and beginner bass and can tailor the lessons for all skills and ages. He welcomes students of all ages, and believes music should be fun and shared with all! Kevin Curtis - Piano music lessons in Winnipeg

Kevin Curtis (Piano)

Kevin teaches Piano, Composition, Jazz Improvisation, and all levels of Music Theory. He holds a Bachelor of Music Composition from the University of Manitoba and studied classical piano with Dr. Jorge Suarez. He has completed RCM level 9, and attended the RCM Teacher Professional Development Seminar. Kevin welcomes students of all ages and abilities. Kevin has studied piano since the age of 3; performed as a vocalist with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra at 11; began performing professionally on guitar and piano at the age of 15; and had completed his first studio recording as a composer and multi-intrumentalist by 16. Kevin served as pianist, arranger, and sound engineer with the Central Band of the Canadian forces (Ottawa), before embarking as pianist and Musical Director for Carnival Corporation and Holland America. He has toured extensively and has been a featured artist at the Ottawa International Jazz Festival, the Jazz Winnipeg Festival, the Jazz Winnipeg Nu Sounds Series, and the Winnipeg Art Gallery's Jazz On The Rooftop series. He has also appeared as a guest lecturer at McNally Robinson Bookseller's “Meet The Composer Series”. Kevin teaches at our Winnipeg lesson centre and his rate is $26 per half hour.

Lucy Nam (Piano)

Lucy is a professional piano teacher & has completed grade 10 piano with the Royal Conservatory of Music. She has been performing and studying music since she was 6. She performed as a choir accompanist at church for many years in South Korea. She participated in various music competitions and she received a top prize at the age of 16. She’s a performer for the Winnipeg Music Festival. She was an English teacher in South Korea & her passion is assessing & developing each student’s own strengths. She enjoys teaching all styles of music: pop, folk, church music, movie soundtracks, cartoon theme songs & classical music. She can teach lessons in English and Korean. Marco Castillo - Guitar, Bass, Percussion, Drums, Songwriting music lessons in Winnipeg

Marco Castillo (Guitar, Bass, Percussion, Drums, Songwriting)

Marco Castillo was born in the capital of Samba, and after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Music at Estácio de Sá University in Rio de Janeiro in 1994, he instantly began touring South America with Brazil’s hottest bands; since moving to Canada, Marco has performed in festivals around the globe, and has recorded and produced many musical projects. Whether it’s his work as a solo artist, his full 8 piece "Brazilian Beats" band, or collaborations with the Winnipeg Jazz and Symphony Orchestras and Ron Paley’s Big Band, Castillo brings a one of a kind show. Castillo’s much appraised Trip to Brazil, (one of his three albums), was awarded World Recording of the Year (2012) in Regina as part of the Western Canadian Music Awards. Marco Castillo was also a finalist for the 2015 Viña del Mar music festival in Chile, one of the most important music festivals in Latin America, which is broadcasted and seen by over 250,000,000 fans around the world. Castillo believes in developing a personalized teaching method for each student since every individual learns differently; he teaches guitar, bass, Brazilian percussion, music perception, and music theory. His rate is $26 per half hour.

Paul Cameron Miller - Guitar, Mandolin, Banjo music lessons in Winnipeg

Paul Cameron Miller (Guitar, Mandolin, Banjo)

Cam has been a guitar and songwriting instructor for almost 30 years. Cam uses the instrument as a key into a larger world of composition, arrangement, and song and lyric writing. He feels jazz and folk styles lend themselves best to lyric writing, and as an award-winning poet, he knows that words play an important role in the construction of a good song. He teaches all styles of guitar; jazz, folk finger style, rock and blues, classical and flamenco. Cam welcomes beginners as well as those seeking to enhance their ability. Shauna Martin - Voice music lessons in Winnipeg

Shauna Martin (Voice)

Shauna Martin (soprano) is a native of Winnipeg who recently returned from the Boston area where she has been teaching musical theatre, classical and contemporary commercial music. She holds a B.Mus from Brandon University and M.Mus (Opera) from UBC. She is a great believer in “crosstraining” the voice and loves to work with students on all styles. Shauna teaches voice lessons, and musical theatre group classes at both our Winnipeg Pembina Highway location and at our Winnipeg Northeast location.
Her rate is $28 per half hour.

Sherry Edwards (Voice, Piano)

Sherry majored in voice at Crouse College of Music at Syracuse University in New York and at the University of Manitoba School of Music and earned a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Education. She taught at the St. James Assiniboia School Division at the K to Grade 6 level for many years with numerous award winning choirs at the Winnipeg Music Festival. Sherry was a broadcast music director, and on-air host for the Woodsmoke & Sweetgrass TV show from 1973-1994. She has composed and arranged many pieces for children including Skydance that debuted at the International Orff Festival. Sherry teaches at our Winnipeg lesson centre and her rate is $26 per half hour.

Shoshana Goldenberg - Voice, Violin, Viola, Ukulele, Strings music lessons in Winnipeg

Shoshana Goldenberg (Voice, Violin, Viola, Ukulele, Strings)

Shoshana is a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist who has 19 years of experience pursuing musical excellence. She began studying violin at the age of 3, studying the Suzuki Method with Joanne Martin. At 10, she began studying viola as well. Along the way, she joined the Winnipeg Youth Orchestra, playing both violin and viola. She later studied viola with Daniel Scholz. Throughout childhood, she performed in many choirs, including the Pembina Trails Voices honour choir, and at age 12, she began studying classical voice with Phyllis Thompson, and performed for many years in the Winnipeg Music Festival and various other music competitions, as well as completing RCM examinations in both voice and music theory. In 2014, she joined the U of M Faculty of Music's Jazz Studies Program, studying jazz voice with Anna-Lisa Kirby. She is currently in her 3rd year of the Jazz Program, and performs with the Promise ensemble led by Derrick Gardner. Other projects she is involved with include the jazz manouche group “Juvel,” as well as her solo work. With her eclectic experience and passion for all different genres of music, she welcomes students of all ages, skill levels, and musical interests! Shoshana teaches at our Winnipeg lesson centre and her rate is $24 per half hour.

Victoriya Savchenko - Voice, Piano, Theory music lessons in Winnipeg

Victoriya Savchenko (Voice, Piano, Theory)

Victoriya Savchenko is a native of Ukraine and is residing in Winnipeg.
She holds a Diploma in Piano Performance and Choir Conducting from the State School of Music in Ukraine, a Bachelor of Music/Bachelor of Education and a Masters Degree in Voice Performance from University of Manitoba, Canada.
Victoriya is the recipient of numerous awards, scholarships and distinctions and is an accomplished concert performer.
As well as teaching piano, music theory and voice for the past fifteen years, Victoriya has taught general music (including Orff and Recorder), choir and band in the public school system.
Every year her students participate in local concerts and festivals, and complete the Royal Conservatory requirements at different levels.
Her philosophy is to keep students interested and challenged while having fun learning.
