Aaron Thrasher - Drums music lessons in Edmonton South

Aaron Thrasher (Drums)

Aaron is a local freelance musician and teacher who has been active with many groups including his ongoing roll as an instructor. Aaron is currently completing a degree in percussion at Selkirk College for Contemporary Music, and has experience teaching and playing across a wide range of genres.
Rate: $24 per half hour

Alex Tanasychuk - Saxophone, Clarinet, Theory music lessons in Edmonton South

Alex Tanasychuk (Saxophone, Clarinet, Theory)

Alex Tanasychuk has played both guitar and saxophone since 2005. Saxophone ultimately became his passion, which he explored by completing his degree in Jazz Performance at MacEwan University in 2015. Alex has played in countless ensembles and groups along the way, most notably the MacEwan Big Band under Raymond Baril. Alex and some friends formed the jazz quartet "Three Sun Sea" and hit the Edmonton scene. In 2013 they recorded their very first jazz EP "This is not a Question", which was nominated for Jazz Album of the Year at the 2013 Edmonton Music Awards. They played in "Emerging Artists" showcase at the Edmonton Jazz Festival, and embarked on a 6-show Western Canada tour. Nowadays you can find Alex regularly touring Edmonton with rock cover band RadioActive.

Aliona Deacon - Violin music lessons in Edmonton South

Aliona Deacon (Violin)

Aliona Deacon has been teaching violin since 2007. She graduated from Dnipropetrovsk Conservatoire with a Major in Violin Teaching and Performance in Ukraine. She experienced the privilege of having private lessons with Nathaniel Vallois, a senior professor of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, England. She has been a member of Borealis Orchestra in Edmonton as one of the first violinists since 2015. Aliona is an energetic and passionate teacher. Her goal is to impart a love of music and develop a confident, well-rounded character within her students. In addition to her certification as a Suzuki Teacher she is currently working on Royal Conservatory Certificate in Elementary Piano.

Ben Shillabeer (Drums)

Ben majored in performance at MacEwan University. He plays for CCMA nominated band The Dungarees. Ben has been nominated for CCMA Country Drummer Of The Year 2015-2017. His previous bands, The Boom Chucka Boys and Social Code, each had numerous songs on the Canadian charts with many CCMA and Juno nominations alongside hundreds of performances worldwide. Ben's specialties are theory, music notations and technique and he has been teaching since 2014.

Brandon intends to further his studies in all band instruments while his current experience centers around the saxophone and clarinet. He stays active performing in the Edmonton music scene and aside from his ambition to teach in a high school setting, he looks forward to developing your sound on your instrument.

Breanna Antosh from Langley, British Columbia, completed her Bachelor of Music Performance at Kings University in 2018. She is involved in the Community Chorus at Kings while still pursuing other performance opportunities. She thrives on unravelling the theory, and its application, in music equipping students on how to communicate with their instrument while having fun in the lesson.

He is an active clinician in school music programs, is well versed in both contemporary and jazz styles and enjoys teaching theory. Chris teaches for Parkland School Division as a Junior High classroom teacher and K-9 Music teacher, he has post-secondary training in both Music (MacEwan University) and Education (University of Alberta B.A. English, B. Ed. Science). He has taught, performed, recorded , written, produced, and toured nationally and internationally as a professional guitar player for over 30 years, performing with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Junior Gone Wild, including multiple appearances at the Edmonton Folk Festival both as a singer/songwriter and as a sideman. His teaching approach is student centered, seeking to engage and retain student commitment to the instrument through student led pacing and personal choice in the material Covered. Each lesson is unique to the student. Dominique Shulhan from Barrhead, Alberta, completed her Jazz Diploma at MacEwan University in 2015. Throughout her time at MacEwan, she played in Big Band I and Showcase Band. Dominique finished the Masters of Music program at the University of Alberta in 2013. She was involved in a Chamber Ensemble, The Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Saxophone Ensemble. Dominique received her Bachelor of Music degree in 2011 from The Kings University College and enjoyed being a part of The Kings University Concert and Chamber choirs. She loves those precious moments when she's been trying to problem solve with a student and the student finally gets that ah-ha! moment. Most of all, she loves the ability that music has to not only connect people, but to help people communicate what cannot be put into words. Rate: $26 per half hour

She is constantly growing her vocal capacity by attending workshops such as the Extreme Vocal Institute and Inner Voice Music. Karli has performed in 2 metal bands. Alongside her experience in studio work she specializes in vocal function, anatomy, belting, powerful singing, and projection. She is fluent in pop, rock, metal vocal styles and is eager to take your voice to the next level.

Kasia Saturna is an accomplished cellist with over 15 years experience as a principal cellist in Poland and has been teaching throughout her career. She is a graduate of the Stanislaw Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdansk, Poland. Kasia moved to Canada about 10 years ago and has been in Edmonton for two years. She now regularly plays in a duet called AcelloRosa with occasional appearances in symphonies. She has a great passion for music and enjoys teaching students of all ages and abilities. She graduated from Victoria School of Performing and Visual arts where she received a prestigious music scholarship. Kayla had the honor of providing back up vocals for Josh Groban during his tour stop in Edmonton. More recently Kayla has worked with The Rock n Roll Society of Edmonton as an instructor for their Centre of Arts and Music. She is active as a composer and musician in Edmonton. He has studied with some of Edmonton’s finest instructors, and in L.A. with Greg Howe (a touring guitarist for Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake). Mitch enjoys, and has experience teaching various styles ranging from classical music to metal. His has completed the Suzuki Guitar Volume 1 & 2 and Suzuki Principles in Action courses.
