What is it that makes a performance legend? Experience and design integrity make a legend. Since the early 1970s, Electro-Harmonix has been designing analog delays featured on some of the greatest recordings and used by legendary musicians throughout the world. From the original Memory Man to the Deluxe Memory Man, still available today, our delays are desired instruments for the organic tones that deliver textures that define quality.

The new Memory Boy carries the performance heritage for warm analog delays and modulations that made its ancestors the go to legends that remain today. With two years in design using new and refined, analog ICs the focus was making the legend affordable to every musician while maintaining the character and artistic sounds that let you stand apart.

The new Memory Boy straps on the cape and flies with heritage into the search for amazing sound at a price that mere mortals can afford.

The sounds I got out of it were good for the price. In my experience its not easy finding a great Analogue delay below $160. The Vibrato was a messy nightmare. The Chorus, when dialed to noon with the wet/dry at noon was good but not very dynamic. The self oscillation wasn't to my taste, which is unfortunate because some of my favorite artists use it to the benefit to their songs. Not a fan of the square wave, but it has its uses. I found this pedal had a small effect on my tone. It took some brightness out, but maybe that's just me. The expression pedal input was fun to mess with, I felt like I was playing Scott Holidays rig. Really cool feature with lots of on the fly capability. Give this pedal a try before you buy it.

I remember when you couldn't find an analog delay for under $300! Now you've got this little guy - which I would actually prefer over the Memory Man! Why? The modulation options; it has a pulse wave as well as a triangle wave. In addition to delay you can get chorus or Lesley speaker type sounds. I use this in conjunction with my Freeze pedal to get great washes of undulating ambient goodness. EHX always builds in a little bit of craziness and lots of guitar players dismiss these features as useless; however, if you're a knob tweaker you'll find capabilities in the Memory Boy you won't find in any of the more expensive analog delays.
