The Ukadelic line features designs submitted by ukulele lovers from all over including three new designs for 2017. These playful ukes now come in durable plastic and there is a design to get anyone excited.

Designer Kristina Mathwig has always had a passion for the arts but was persuaded to take a more practical vocational route in life. In recent years, however, while caregiving for her parents, she found herself returning to that passion. Mandalas were of particular interest due to their renown for absorbing stress - helping her find peace, joy, calm, and focus through her design.

Product ExperienceI own it

I purchased an entry level "Ukadelic" uke a couple of years ago and I LOVE it. My daughter has recently shown an interest in playing so I thought I would pick up another Ukadelic model for her to start with. She found this one and was drawn to the funky pattern. Recognizing the brand, I niavely did not do any additional research on this model and simply purchased it for her (based on my satisfaction with my own). When we got it home, and she tried to play it, it was clear that this was not even remotely close to the quality of the one I own. It is entirely made of plastic and has a very dull sound to it. Tuning it was also a challenge AND it went out of tune almost immediately. NOTE: Full disclosure ... The salesperson who sold us the uke (who was awesome!) did mention that it may take some time for the strings to "stretch" and "settle". While, I do not recall having this issue with the one I purchased a couple of years back, I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. Having said this, playing the uke, when it constantly goes out of tune is anything but pleasant. Although my uke is also a soprano model, this one is also smaller than mine (which likely explains the "dull" sound?). We ended up doing some research to see if we were "missing something" and it seems that the Ukadelic ukes have recently been redesigned and the quality seems to have suffered. It seems more like a "toy" than an actual starter ukulele. I have never wrote a negative review before, but felt the need to share our experience so that others would be aware of what they are purchasing. I'm sorry to say that we will be returning this uke ... despite how beautiful it looks.
