Yamaha's new TransAcoustic guitar recreates the experience of playing in a rich, live room without needing any external amplification or effects - just the guitar itself. This is accomplished using an actuator installed on the inner surface of the guitar back which vibrates in response to the vibrations of the strings. The vibrations of the actuator are then conveyed to the body of the guitar, and to the air in and around the guitar body, generating authentic reverb and chorus sounds from inside the body.

Three simple knobs let you adjust the degree of effect applied and the lineout volume level. Additionally, Yamaha kept the controls small to minimize the area of the holes in the body material, thereby reducing acoustic sound loss.

• Reverb Control (Room / Hall)
• Chorus Control
• TA Switch / Line Out Volume Control

Features:

• The body is an all-solid guitar based on the L-series.
• A modified non-scalloped bracing design retains the L series characteristic bright tone while enhancing the low end.
• Treating the tops with Yamaha's exclusive A.R.E. process gives the instrument a rich, vintage quality tone, making it sound as though you'd been playing it for years, from the very first moment you pick it up.
• The fact that this guitar has been designed with an insistence on sound quality is what allows it to produce effected sounds that feels pure and natural.
• Straighter neck taper and hand-rolled fingerboard edges result in an instrument that can be played for hours without any stress.
• The 5-ply neck design featured in all TransAcoustic Guitars is constructed of rosewood and mahogany plies with a double-action adjustable rod, creating a strong, stable neck that resists warping.
• Newly designed battery box is integrated into the end-pin jack. This requires fewer holes in the body, thus reducing acoustic sound loss. Connect the cable from the jack to a PA or amp to use as an acoustic electric guitar.

If you are a guitarist/musician who appreciates, or is looking for that quality guitar with superb sound, then I hope that this review will help enlighten you with that future purchase. First off, let me set the record straight that I am not affiliated with Yamaha, nor a dealer. I am just a regular Joe Schmuck that has been playing guitar for just over nine years, but believes in buying quality instruments at reasonable prices. I don't have deep pockets, so big ticket items are out for me. I purchased this guitar locally, but had to order in, as it is not a stocked item and the staff on hand know nothing of this special guitar. It wasn't until it came in and I played it for them, that they were absolutely wowed by the stunning beauty and sound of this guitar. So was I! I had only watched videos and demos on line and listened to the sound as it passed through my computer speakers, not a real test of a prospective purchase. Needless to say, that when I started playing it in it's normal mode (without effects), I was completely taken by the crisp clear sound of this Yamaha, how it resonated and held sustain. The looks on the faces of the staff were even that of surprise, disbelief and impressed. I mean, the look of the burst finish, the overall construction, but most importantly, the sound that emanated from this guitar. I knew tight there and then, that I was going to purchase it. Buyer's remorse at first, but certainly after having it for a few weeks now and playing it frequently, those remorseful thoughts have since dissipated. Since that time of having this guitar, I have had others try out this Yamaha transacoustic only to see the same look as the store staff have on their faces. They, too, cannot believe how beautiful the sound is on this guitar. That speaks volumes because these individuals are all seasoned guitarists, and they, to me, are the ultimate judges who I look to for their brutally honest opinion. So, in closing, I hope that this review has helped you with any future prospective guitar purchasing you are planning to do. A lot of the time, people are skeptical about reviews and using them as a basis for making purchases. There's a lot of pros and cons to any purchase, whether it be a guitar, car, power tool of some sort, but the intention is to help, not to dissuade. One last thing. I gave the value and overall rating of 4.5 rather than 5, and that reason is that with me spending $1300+ (taxes in) for this guitar, I would have expected to receive an nice hard shell case with it. Instead I received a padded nylon case with shoulder straps for carrying it around. I thought that this was rather cheap for the overall price. However, this has no bearing whatsoever on the the guitar itself. -Cheers!
