PITCH FORK

Online

The Pitch Fork transposes an instruments pitch over a +/- three octave range and features three modes which allow the pitch to be transposed up, down or both, simultaneously. The pitch shift amount can be set to a fixed interval or continuously varied by an expression pedal or control voltage.

The controls are straightforward and intuitive. An 11-position Shift switch selects the maximum transposition interval ranging from D (Detune), a shift of 17 cents, through Minor 2nd, Major 2nd, Major 3rd, Perfect 4th, Perfect 5th, Major 6th, Minor 7th, 1 Octave, 2 Octaves and 3 Octaves. A three position toggle switch controls whether the pitch is transposed up, down or both. In Dual mode, two pitch-shifted signals are output. One follows the shift knob as if in the Up position while the other creates a harmony. Dual Mode settings include M3 up + P5 up, P5 up + 1 Oct down, 1 Oct up + 1 Oct down and many others. A Blend knob controls the mix of the dry signal and the effected signal, and an EXP jack enables the player to control pitch and glissando with an expression pedal.

The Latch button selects Latch or Momentary mode which affects how the footswitch and EXP input behave. In Latch mode, the footswitch toggles between effect on and buffered bypass each time its pressed and the EXP input continuously varies pitch. In Momentary mode the effect is only on while the footswitch is depressed and when it is released the Pitch Fork goes into bypass.

In Latch mode the EXP input controls pitch shift amount, ranging from unity to the interval set by the Shift knob, and pitch varies continuously throughout the expression pedals range. In Momentary mode the EXP input controls glissando rate for the Pitch Forks footswitch. When the bypass footswitch is pressed, the Pitch Fork jumps from bypass to the interval set by the Shift knob. The amount of time it takes to reach that new note is the glissando rate. When the footswitch is released the pitch will return to unity at the same rate. That glissando time can vary between 4 milliseconds to two seconds depending on the heel/toe position of the expression pedal. The default glissando rate is 60 milliseconds when nothing is plugged into the EXP input.

The Pitch Fork comes equipped with an EHX 9.6DC-200mA power supply and also runs on a 9Volt battery.

-Features: This pedal does offer a lot more features then the Digitech DROP, the ability to go up OR down might be useful for you, as well as the expression pedal input. You can also go lower (and of course higher) then the DROP by 2 full octaves. -Quality: Sound quality, it get very vey muddy at a full octave down and at 2-3 octave down the tone is more or less indistinguishable BUT with a Guitar is drop D i was able to make it to drop A without effecting the tone and sounding just like my 7 string. i found going up the higher you went the worse it sounded. I personally found the build quality a bit on the low side, when i push a pedal i want to hear that click. -Value: The price is good when compared to pedals of a similar operation (Digitech DROP), it is the cheaper of the two by $50. -Bottom line: It wasn't for me, i found that although the Digitech DROP is a one trick pony, the over all sound was better for what i need it for. IF you are looking for a pedal that can give you some cool effects you may like this more then the Digitech DROP. IF you play in many different drop tunings and are tired of bringing several guitars to the show or practice Or even want to experiment with some 7-8 string guitar tones then i highly recommend looking at the Digitech DROP.

only had the pedal a day and it already has more effects on octaves than my tube powered multi effect and had what i need for my band plus added possibilities for later usage the blend can get you anywhere from background to 100 percent shift and given its electro harminox i know its a quality pedal as i have a couple others that are a few years old with no issues.... only complaint really is that like alot of eh stuff it still feels a bit hard on the wallet but i'm sure ill get over that.

Better than Digitech Whammy V (classic and drop)1 of 1 customers found this review helpful

This pedal is compact and has way more features than the Digitech Whammy V classic and drop tune. The latch feature is what really sets this pitch shifter apart from the others. Before I purchased I read a few blogs that suggested there is some latency. I can say that even when shredding, there is absolutely no latency. It's perfect. The blend knob is another great feature that Digitech products do not have. The only drawback is that as you get to the 2nd and 3rd octaves, higher notes sound somewhat digitized, however, this is comparable to the sounds that come from the Digitech lineup. That said, the further away you pitch shift from the original note (with any pitch shifter), the more digital it will sound. In this case, only the 2nd and 3rd octave at high notes sound like that, but these can really churn out a wacky creative tone. Overall, this is a great pedal that when paired with an expression pedal is much better than the Digitech lineup. That said, I'm also a Digitech fan...
