This box has solved a big problem for me. I love the sound of big iron amps cranked up with power tube/output transformer saturation. That sound can't be obtained at reasonable volumes and to this day very few pedals, attenuators, inefficient speakers or preamp boosting methods achieve that sound convincingly. I usually hate pedals as invariably I wind up with a cheap immitation of front end fizz, loss of note separation and more hum. Pedals always leave me unsatisfied when trying to get close to a Johnny Thunders, Mick Ronson, Steve Jones sound. This Swindle pedal does it. It's simplicity is deceptive as it interacts with your guitar volume pot and amp's controls very well. It's far from a one trick pony and is an exceprionally good clean boost with the gain set back. Very transparent and big chords retain note separation when the gain is dimed. I'm guessing that the simplicity of this circuit and quality of components is part of the reason it sounds as good as it does. The only pedal I have owned that came close to this was a les lius lovepedal that had a cranked twin setting that was noisy but passable for this type of tone. My pedal search is complete with this very handsome and well built piece of Canadian gear. I'm sure that it will earn it's keep as my power tubes will last 5 times longer.
