I bought this because it was advertised to be able to connect an iPad. Yes, it has a second USB host connection, but don't expect to deliver too much through it. It works only with the Presonus Capture Duo app, none of the synths I have tested (Moog Animoog, Model 15, Model D, and Synth On) recognized it. And Capture duo just gets the signal from the two inputs and records it, very basic. than you have to get the recording and transfer it on a computer to do the real editing work. So what if it has MIDI in and MIDI out? It does not deliver it at any app on the iPad. Interface with PC through USB delivers only audio, no MIDI. I wonder why those two MIDI connectors are there or even if they are connected internally, really. The interface is powered through USB. They did not even bother to install a connection for an external power adapter and a power switch, it is always on when connected to the computer. They include Studio One Artist in the package, that is actually a crippled version of Studio One, they cut the ability to use VST's, for that you need to buy the Profesional version, the upgrade costs you about 80% of the full software price. Audio quality is so so, less noise as my other interface but more distortion, these guys did not hear yet of High Resolution. So why did I listened to the good reviews on this site and a lot of other sites? I do not know. For me this interface is useless, waste of money.

Yes, this seems to be the most complete and versatile interface in the market in this price range. And this is why: - Both inputs accept mic, line and instrument connections, I.e., both inputs have Hi-Z connection for guitars or passive basses. It also has phantom power. - The back of the unit is well designed. It offers MIDI in and out, USB 2.0 connection and a device connection, which allows this unit to connect to any computer, as well as an iPad. You can use the USB connection to power the unit and the device connection for the iPad. The Focusrite 2i2 is a good quality unit, but offers no MIDI or device connections, so you cannot use the 2i2 with an iPad. It was worthy waiting just a few years for someone to design an improved and more complete 2 in and 2 out interface. I take my hat off to Presonus.......

For the price you get a great little box with very good preamps, no latency issues. I get excellent record quality with no clicks or pops, software load was seamless and integrated very well with the AudioBox. Go to Presonus to get the latest audio drivers. Studio One is easy to use, with a little bit of a learning curve.
