The versatile, contemporary styled NTX line is designed with thinner bodies, narrow necks, 14th fret neck joints, and cutaway designs to provide greater comfort and playability for today's steel-string acoustic and electric players. These instruments are perfect for adding nylon string tone to a wide range of musical styles from Latin to Jazz, Pop to Rock. The lineup features the NTX1200R with rosewood with back and sides, the NTX900FM with flamed maple, and the NTX700, available in both natural and a unique black finish.

A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement)

A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement) is an original wood reforming technology developed by Yamaha.
Through precise controll of temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure, the molecular properties of the wood can be manipulated into a more acoustically ideal condition, similar to the molecular characteristics of woods in instruments that have been played for years. In NX Series guitars, this treatment results in a sound close to that of a vintage guitar that has been played for years. It produces a sharper tone while simultaneously controlling dissonance in the high range.
Instruments that have undergone this process have received high marks from a great number of musicians. Their evaluations are nearly identical to those for guitars that have been played for years, and their comments often include terms such as "well settled", "mature", "warm", "excellent resonance", and "clear"

What, I can only give it 5 stars? pity. I'm a retired professional piano bar entertainer. I've had dozens of guitars. I've been walking around with this one for 2 days. I can't put it down! It is so much fun to play and write on. But LOOK AT IT!! It is beautiful! 1.) Rosewood fingerboard and bridge, Stained black! No inlays on the finger board! 2.) Binding - all black with the tiniest white pin stripe! Just looks fantastic along the spruce top and the eastern mahogany back. All the bits of plastic here and there - black. 3.) Front of the headstock stained black. Event the barrels of the tuners are black. 4.) Oval sound hole. The mahogany neck is perfect. The strings seem a little closer together than a classical guitar. It is so easy to play! The guitar is really slim. easy to sit in a office chair and write. I'm not a strummer. I like to pick out interesting chords fingerstyle. It just sound fantastic in that intimate situation. I don't plan to perform with it, but plugged in might be a great experience. I haven't plugged it in yet. It is just so perfect the way it is.

Great sound, decent materials, and easy to play like an electric. Strings that come with it are garbage, but that is easily fixed. Electronics are solid, and the built-in tuner is very handy. If you have big fingers, you may have trouble adjusting to the strings being slightly closer together. The thinner body makes it a bit awkward to hold, but you'll get used it. Being a thin-bodied classical guitar, finding a case that fits just right is also an issue. Aesthetically pleasing except for the battery placement on the front.
