I'm not sure if it's a grounding issue or what but there's this constant buzzing and it's very annoying. Sometimes it's barely noticeable, and sometimes it's very bad. It also worsens when I touch the base of the mic with my hand. I've tried a bunch of things and nothing seems to silence it. Frustrating as hell. Also the actual mic inside the mesh casing is off centre and sort of leaning to the side, which is really unappealing for a few reasons. I thought I'd go cheaper because I'm new to recording and thought I'd use this as an introductory mic. Much regret, should have shed a few extra bucks and invested in an good name. Never even heard of apex before getting this mic, now I know why. Lesson learned.

Called Long & McQuade for advice on a USB mic for vocals, singing specifically. They recommended this one, condenser and all that... I am a quality vocalist with a very broad range, rich low end and powerful high end. My first recordings sounded pretty good, but I noticed the volume knob on the right side of the mic was pressed into the unit too far and difficult to turn. Also, the monitor warning light was not working. I was having a hard time getting the settings right for my powerful upper range. I had to stand too far away from the mic, and it sounded distant. Up close, I had to turn down the gain too far. Gentle vocals it was great. Decided I didn't want to pay all the money for a broken mic (vol knob and indicator) so went to exchange it. The new one, same model, brought it home, and it's buzzing something fierce. No matter what I do, it won't stop buzzing. The other one didn't have that problem. I notice this one's usb is a little wonky, so that may have something to do with it. All in all, nothing but problems on two different mics of the same model. I would say there is a serious quality issue here. Very disappointed. Really needed this to lay down some vocals this weekend. Now everything is delayed.

Had my 555 on a mic stand with my headphones plugged in for about three weeks and the headphone jack has broken off the circuit board just from the weight of the headphone cord. Pretty pathetic for the money that this most useful feature fails easily with normal use.

Bought this used, open box. Tested on a number of PCs - the mic adds electronic hum to the signal. Had to return it.
