The Bluesbreaker II takes the philosophy of our original Bluesbreaker pedal one step further adding two modes, Blues and Boost, effectively making it two pedals in one. Boost mode is designed with the vintage valve amp or "tone purist" player in mind, for when you don't want to alter the tone of your amp at all, but want to drive the front end harder to push the amp further into natural overdrive.

The Boost mode features a clean boost controlled by the pedal's volume control which will not affect your original tone. It can also be used for boosting the signal which can sometimes be lost when using long leads (particular with single coil pick-ups). Blues mode is reminiscent of the tonal and distortion characteristics of our non Master Volume amps such as the classic Bluesbreaker combo from the 1960s. This mode produces a wonderful natural style overdrive for crunchy chord work and singing single notes for truly inspirational leads, all delivered with the warmth and tonality of those early Marshalls.

I'm not an effects pedal guy. I absolutely love the sound of the natural break up of my amp which would require me to have the volume at minimum 7 to start getting dirt. Unfortunately, I'm rarely able to play at such volumes as I'm considerate of others who live in my home. The BB-2 makes my Tele through the Princeton 65 Reverb Reissue sound like I'm playing a Les Paul through a Plexi...an exaggeration but hopefully, you get the drift. The Boost channel pushes the tubes so hard that you can smell them burning; makes my 12 watt Princeton quite ferocious. The blues channel with the gain at 9:00 o'clock sounds like late 60s and 70s Clapton. You can also play Metal through the Marshall Bluesbreaker II pedal. I took a chance and trusted YouTube videos and sparkling reviews but I still didn't expect the Bluesbreaker II to have this amount of sound quality. I have now found another well-priced, top notch, dirt pedal to go along with my EHX Soul Food.

The booster is good & the blues adds decent tone on a clean channel, but I've yet to try a distortion/overdrive/gain pedal that can measure up to the gain on my Marshall amp.

Love the boost it's great for overdriving a tube amp that's set for crunch into a smooth lead tone. The overdrive ch. is classic plexi tone in a box.Move over rover and let Jimmi take over
