Since we began in 1962, the Marshall name has been synonymous with high quality distortion tones. Initially, the way to get classic Marshall distortion was to naturally overdrive one of our valve amps by cranking it up to full volume. As time went by our Master Volume heads allowed the generation of more extreme levels of distortion as the pre-amp valves were driven into overdrive. Our first generation pedals simulated these various valve amp type distortion in convenient, cost effective stomp boxes. The Jackhammer is the next step on from previous Marshall distortion pedals.

The pedal contains our most extreme distortion levels to date, combined with a Contour section that allows you to not only scoop out the mids, but also choose the frequencies at which the scoop occurs. This means that you can tailor your sound to your own individual requirements. Although the Jackhammer has more aggression and gain than any other Marshall pedal, we never forget our heritage. The sounds contained are always natural and realistic, like a super high-gain valve head pushed to the max.

Controls:
- O/D and Dist mode switch
- Volume/Gain control
- Bass/Treble control
- Contour Level/Countour Frequency

Features:
- Solid metal casing
- Passive bypass

I have a 3 channel tube amp with tons of drive and gain but not always the EXACT tone I want for the song I'm playing (anyone in a cover band knows the problem). I've gone through other 'distortion pedals and always have one issue or the other with them. I've had this pedal since, what, 2006? I dug it out today just to see if it worked okay to stick it on Kijiji. Tried it out and instead, I swapped out my other pedal for this one. It needs YOU to dial it in and when you consider how most pedals (except the no-brainer boutique pedals with one knob and a $200+ price) work: tweaking. Tweak this thing and it has great warm distortions. Those who want plug'n'play can shop something else. BTW, 10 years ago, I didn't like it. Wrong guitar, wrong amp, wrong sense of tone? All of these but in different measures. Go to Youtube and check out all the demos of this pedal. Your tone is there. Just dial a bit to the left or the right. It ain't always the pedal...sometimes it's just your impatience. (Oh, and I'm assuming you have a good guitar and a good amp. That matters, too.) And some of the Youtube demos suck. They demo 2 or 3 or 4 sounds from a pedal - ANY pedal - that has ALL kinds of adjustment and doesn't reflect your guitar, your amp or your style. This pedal is cool.

Pedal sounds great. Played through a Fender 65 Twin Reverb. Overdrive mode sounds great with lots of low end and the mids are very tweekable Distortion mode is not very good imho Worth the $60 I paid just for the overdrive!

I love the feel and weight of this beast, and love it on overdrive but on Distortion it becomes muddy. There is just too much dick'n about with the contour/frequency knob when you change guitar or amp, or your shirt even. If you have one guitar and this is in your pedal chain and it never needs adjusting, it would be fine. It is not good at low volumes when practicing it dose not have the same response. Sorry Mr Marshall your amps still go to 11, but this puppy gets a 6.

Great value for $62. Its a bit finicky, but with some time and patience you can get some killer tones from it. I am using a les paul and fender blues jr, and can get some real nice marshall sounds. I also have a govnor, and between the two, im good to go!
