Can be eqed to excellent sound and no sibilance on A&H zed 10 in an untreated room. Can win with AT 4040 and Beyerdynamic M88, both very nice mics.

I used this mic multiple times at a studio I shared with another audio engineer buddy. I've shot this mic up against a U87, vintage 414, Mojave M201, various AT and Rode mics and this guy always come's in at the top, to my surprise. I'd typically favor the Mojave, but the MK4 was very similar with a fairly neutral sound but with a nice extended top end. I've used it on everything from Cajon to acoustic guitar and it's always done a very good job. It certainly doesn't sound like a an expensive vintage mic but it certainly holds it's own and is the best low budget mic I've ever used.

I want to give this mic a perfect score, but I've gone through 2 because they break for no apparent reason. When I bought it the salesman said it was "the most under-priced microphone ever made. And when I tested it out it showed. Quality-wise, it is incredible. When I plugged it in it was leagues above my AT-2020. One day I went to record and the quality was a tenth of what it was. I figured I knocked it around because I would bring it between studios and bumps happen. After getting a new one with the warranty, I made sure to baby this one. It never left the mic stand. Then one day I go to record and it sounds horrible and staticy. Again, it's totally possible I have an electrical issue that is frying the mics. Other than their short lifespan, it's a great mic.
