I went in to my local L&M (Owen Sound, ON) to audition a pair much higher priced instruments. When I asked the sales rep (who really was fantastic and a wealth of knowledge) if they carried anything else that was comparable to what I was looking at, and he casually pointed to the Yamaha JR2 and said "Yeah, that $200 Yamaha, that's about it!" (I was looking at guitars 3-5 times that price.) I had my young children with me though, and thought it might serve as a good learner guitar to be slogged around the living room by them. So I picked it up, looked it over, and gave a few quick strums and scales. Then I didn't hand it to one of my children for close to 15 minutes! This guitar is basic, but it plays beautifully, and for its size and laminate construction (a solid top on this model is only $30 more, which is a great option). The action on the one I played was set up really well, and the construction felt solid enough that I would be comfortable trusting it with my kids, or as a really dependable fun instrument to bring with us camping, visiting family, busking, eating in a nice restaurant, attending funerals, attending graduations, even the births of stranger's children! Reading other reviews, I see people complaining that it lacks power on the bass end, but it is a small bodied guitar, big bass doesn't come from small boxes, even if you spend $4000 to have a master luthier design and build your instrument! I see complaints about the basic tuners, but it is (at the time of writing this) a $200 guitar (brand new!) the stock tuners work alright (mostly), and if you can't live with them forever, there are many options starting at around $20 that you can quickly and easily drop in that negate your foolish argument! This has become my staple recommended guitar at this price point. Get yourself and your loved ones (or some random people from just about anywhere) in to a shop and try it out!

It's a good guitar for the price but I find it doesn't have a deep voice, more high pitched and if u r used to playing on a full size guitar it will be harder to play cuz the frets are crammed
