I've been waiting for this one ever since the DDJ 1000 Rekordbox version came out. The Serato version comes in at $100 more for some reason, but that's probably due to the extreme demand it had. I've been using it in real world scenarios (ie. clubs, weddings), and here are my thoughts. Notes: - Jog wheels are mainly why you're getting this, and they are excellent. Think of the SZ but just a better mechanical feel. I do wish the screens in the jog wheels showed more information like the Rekordbox version does. - As someone who upgraded to this from the SX2, I do miss the layout of the loop functions. I think it's more intuitive on the SX and SZ series. Right out of the box this is the FIRST STEP you should take. MIDI remap the "in" and "out" buttons to function as x1/2 and x2. This will basically eliminate the biggest issue people have with this controller which is the looping function. - I do miss the metal face-plate that was on the SX and SZ. It uses a similar build to what CDJs have, which is the high quality plastic build. But overall it is built well, but not like a tank like the SZ. - The lack of Serato effects isn't a big issue to me, since the hardware effects are so good. It just takes some time to get used to the DJM style effects, which aren't as intuitive as having dedicated FX knobs like the SX or SZ does. Again, this controller is made for those who want something closer to what the CDJ/DJM setup would be like. - I was going to give this a 5 star rating in the features department but it is missing something that even my SX had, which is the crossfader curve adjust knob. It is no where to be found, nor is there a stop adjust knob. You have to do everything through the software which is annoying if you like to change that on the fly, but you can live with it. Just thought that it would have been a no brainer to add the crossfader adjust knob considering this ships with the amazing Magvel fader. - Speaking of the fader, the magvel feels almost like the same one from the S9. Buttery smooth and a joy to cut with. Overall, this is a fantastic controller for the price, but it does come with a few compromises which may or may not affect your decision. If you're a mobile DJ who is split between getting this or the SX3, I would shell out the extra $$ and get this one!

Coming from Serato with turntables I bought the Pioneer DDJSX3 and it was great as far as capacitive-touch controllers go with lots of features and functions, but it also felt a bit toyish and a compromise compared to turntables. But this controller feels vinyl amazing and instead of it feeling like a compromise in feel, it feels just like a club setup with the CDJ's and a Pioneer club mixer. A minority of people complain that it has a few less things than the SX3 (primary sound effects are the excellent pro Pioneer effects vs the Serato effects) or the RecordBox 1000, but if you're used to or want to be used to a pro club setup with Serato, this controller finally brings us there. I'm putting away my mixer, and although I can connect my turntables to this, I may not even use them much now. This is compact, but awesome!
